My Way (Akufen Album)
''My Way'' is the debut studio album by Akufen, an alias of electronic musician Marc Leclair. The album was released by Force Inc. Records on May 14, 2002. The album has over 2000 samples of radio feed on it. Critical reception Andy Kellman of AllMusic described the album as "a terrifically delightful, upbeat record, tipsy with buoyant basslines, swooning textures, and unorthodox hooks." Olli Siebelt of BBC said, "''My Way'' manages to walk a fine line between full-on commercial sensibility and left-field experimentation and yet somehow pulls off both simultaneously with no compromise on either side." Marc Leclair, better known by his stage name Akufen, is a Canadian electronic musician. His music is electronic music that is often described as minimal house, minimal techno, glitch, or microhouse. His 2002 release titled ''My Way'' introduced his concept of "microsampling", which was essentially a way of using extremely small and short clips of samples he had randomly recorded from FM radio broadcasts as a key musical element. Leclair's pseudonym comes from the French word for tinnitus (ringing of the ears), ''acouphène'', and he has also gone under the pseudonyms Horror Inc., David Scott, Nefuka, and Anna Kaufen."Akufen". ''Stylus Magazine'' was an American online music and film magazine, launched in 2002 and co-founded by Todd L. Burns. It featured long-form music journalism, four daily music reviews, movie reviews, podcasts, an MP3 blog, and a text blog. Additionally, ''Stylus'' had daily features like "The Singles Jukebox", which looked at pop singles from around the globe, and "Soulseeking", a column focused on personal responses in listening. Even though they never reached the readership of other music magazines such as PopMatters or Pitchfork, they still had a very consistent and fired-up audience. Matthew Herbert (born 1972), also known as Herbert, Doctor Rockit, Radio Boy, Mr. Vertigo, Transformer, and Wishmountain, is a British electronic musician. He often takes sounds from everyday items to produce electronic music. Career Matthew Herbert released his first album, ''100 Lbs'', in 1996, which “gathers early 12″s from a time when Herbert was very much a ‘dance music’ producer”.
