My Sweet Rosalie
"My Sweet Rosalie" is a 1976 song by British pop group Brotherhood of Man. It was released as the follow-up single to the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest winner, "Save Your Kisses for Me". The song was written by band members Martin Lee and Lee Sheriden with producer Tony Hiller. Background Having won the Eurovision Song Contest in April 1976, the group were catapulted to success with the song selling over a million copies in the UK alone. Although they had also just released their second album (''Love and Kisses from Brotherhood of Man''), the group decided not to release a follow-up single from the album. Instead, they devised a song very similar to the Eurovision winner called "My Sweet Rosalie". Its similarities were heightened by the fact that it included a twist at the end of the song, as did "Save Your Kisses for Me". Brotherhood Of Man
Brotherhood of Man are a British pop group who achieved success in the 1970s. They won the 1976 Eurovision Song Contest with "Save Your Kisses for Me". Created in 1969 by songwriter and record producer Tony Hiller, Brotherhood of Man was initially an umbrella title for a frequently-changing line-up of session singers. Early on, they scored a worldwide hit with the song "United We Stand". By 1973 the concept had run its course and Hiller formed a definite four-member line-up consisting of Martin Lee, Lee Sheriden, Nicky Stevens and Sandra Stevens. This version of the group went on to score many hits around the world in the mid to late 1970s including "Kiss Me Kiss Your Baby", " Angelo", "Oh Boy (The Mood I'm In)" and " Figaro". Nicky Stevens
Nicky Stevens (born Helen Maria Thomas in Carmarthen, Wales, 3 December 1949) is a singer, famous as a member of pop group Brotherhood of Man. She is the only Welsh person to have won the Eurovision Song Contest. Early career Nicky Stevens began singing at an early age. At the age of four she was singing in a chapel in Carmarthen, and following lessons eventually joined the Hywel Girls Choir. She also studied classical music as a singer and pianist. At the age of 16 she held a residency in Swansea's Townsman nightclub. During this period she also took on a job as a telephone operator. This lasted for nine months and is the only job she has ever had outside the entertainment business. She later toured the Continent as a singer, performing in night clubs. Following this she went on to tour South Africa as well as clubs around the UK. ''The Seventies Story'' is the 16th and most recent album by pop group Brotherhood of Man, released in 2002. It is based on a live stage show the group had undertaken at the time. Overview The show reflects on the music and events of the 1970s, with the group performing the songs, while one of the members narrates events in between. Songs from the show were recorded and included on this album, which was not officially released by a record company, but was produced by the group themselves for sale at the show or by mail order. The tracks from the album have since been released on generally available compact discs and for download. It is the group's first album to be solely available on CD and remains their most recent album release. ''Greenhouse'' is a 1997 album by British pop group Brotherhood of Man. The album was released independently by the group themselves on cassette only and was available to buy at their shows. The songs contained included a mix of re-recordings of their own hit singles and cover versions. It also contained one new track "Greenhouse" - a song recorded a few years earlier in 1991 with Dutch producer Eddy Ouwens, but never released. The song was later included on the download-only album ''The Definitive Collection'' in 2009. Brotherhood of Man themselves were credited as producers for the rest of the album (member Lee Sheriden had been the group's musical director on their recordings for many years). ''Top of the Pops'' (''TOTP'') is a British Record chart, music chart television programme, made by the BBC and originally broadcast weekly between 1January 1964 and 30 July 2006. The programme was the world's longest-running weekly music show. For most of its history, it was broadcast on Thursday evenings on BBC One. Each show consisted of performances of some of the week's best-selling popular music records, usually excluding any tracks moving down the chart, including a rundown of that week's singles chart. ''Love and Kisses from Brotherhood of Man'' (usually referred to as simply ''Love and Kisses'') is the second album released by the new line-up of British pop group Brotherhood of Man. It was released in the UK the day before their 1976 Eurovision win with "Save Your Kisses for Me", which the album contained. In some European countries the album was released in October 1975 with a slightly different track listing. Background In line with their previous album, the style of the album's tracks was more soul-based than the pure pop for which the group would become famous. Due to this, the single "Save Your Kisses for Me" is somewhat out of place on the album, although pop is also present on the track "Cry Thief". Like the group's other albums, the songs were produced by manager Tony Hiller. It was mostly recorded in mid to late 1975 at Eden Studios in West London. ''Oh Boy!'' is the third album released by pop group Brotherhood of Man. It was released in 1977 and featured the UK top 10 hit, " Oh Boy (The Mood I'm In)". It was released earlier in some European countries as ''Midnight Express''. Background The album was released in May 1977 in the UK and unlike their previous album, failed to make the chart, despite featuring two hit singles. It was released in Europe in November 1976, under the name ''Midnight Express'', without "Oh Boy (The Mood I'm In)", but with another song, "Bag of Money" in its place. On some copies, this album was issued simply as ''Brotherhood of Man''.
