My Song For You (film)
''My Song for You'' is a 1934 film directed by Maurice Elvey and starring Jan Kiepura. Kiepura sang the title song "My Song for You" written by Mischa Spoliansky and Frank Eyton. The song was released on an EP "Tell Me Tonight" (also a song by Spoliansky and Eyton) in 1957. Plot Arriving in Venice for a production of "Aida", young tenor Ricardo Gatti meets the attractive Mary, who has sneaked into the opera house in an attempt to get her fiancé hired as a pianist. Ricardo invites Mary to tea and she tells her story, describing her fiancé as her "brother". Captivated by her, the tenor uses his influence to obtain the job with the orchestra. However, filled with guilt at her deception, Mary breaks off her engagement and consents instead to marry her parents' choice, a wealthy society man. Gina Malo
Gina Malo (born Janet Flynn; June 1, 1909 – November 30, 1963) was an American film actress, born Janet Flynn in Cincinnati, Ohio. She appeared in a number of British films in the 1930s, often playing an American. Early career Though born in Cincinnati as Janet Flynn, Gina Malo represented herself as a Parisian film actress when securing her first Broadway parts. After a stint with Florenz Ziegfeld as a showgirl, Malo's ambitions as a singer found vent when she secured the part of the prima dona in Sigmund Romberg's operetta 'The New Moon' (1928-1929). When a Paris production of Romberg's musical formed, she jumped at the chance to play the part again. A capable French speaker, she obtained another stage role in Paris singing in ''Broadway''. She returned to New York as a replacement for Lili Damita in "Sons o’Guns". Ave Maria (Bach/Gounod)
"Ave Maria" is a popular and much-recorded setting of the Latin prayer Ave Maria, originally published in 1853 as "". The piece consists of a melody by the French Romantic composer Charles Gounod that he superimposed over an only very slightly changed version of Bach's Prelude No. 1 in C major, BWV 846, from Book I of his ''The Well-Tempered Clavier'', 1722. The 1853 publication has French text, but it is the 1859 version with the Latin Ave Maria which became popular. History Gounod improvised the melody, and his future father-in-law Pierre-Joseph-Guillaume Zimmermann transcribed the improvisation and in 1853 made an arrangement for violin (or cello) with piano and harmonium. The same year it appeared with the words of Alphonse de Lamartine's poem ''Le livre de la vie'' ("The Book of Life"). In 1859, Jacques-Léopold Heugel published a version with the familiar Latin text. Cine-Allianz Films
Cine-Allianz Tonfilm was a German film production company established in 1932 by Arnold Pressburger and Gregor Rabinovitch. The company specialised in co-productions targeted at international markets, and enjoyed immediate success during the final year of the Weimar Republic. During the Nazi era the company's Jewish owners came under increasing pressure from the government and their property was expropriated. They were forced into exile, while Cine-Allianz continued to produce films under the Nazi regime until its merger with UFA in 1942. Rabinovitch went into exile in France where he set up a fresh production company also named Cine-Allianz which produced films such as ''I Was an Adventuress'' (1938) and '' Beating Heart'' (1940).
