"My Side of Town" is a song by American singer Lutricia McNeal, released as the second single from her debut studio album of the same name (1997) and the follow-up to her 1996 international hit "Ain't That Just the Way". "My Side of Town" charted within the top 40 of the charts of Iceland, the Netherlands, and Sweden in 1997. In 1999, it reached number one in New Zealand. Critical reception AllMusic editor Jaime Sunao Ikeda picked "My Side of Town" as one of two standout tracks from the album. Adrian Thrills from ''Daily Mail'' described it as a "impressive on up-tempo number" and "calypso-flavoured". Chart performance "My Side of Town" did not match the chart success of "Ain't That Just the Way" in Europe, but it peaked at number 17 in the Netherlands, number 30 in Sweden, number 31 in Iceland, and number 73 in Germany. Lutricia McNeal (born November 27, 1973) is an American soul and pop singer. She achieved worldwide success with her cover version of "Ain't That Just the Way" which sold two million copies worldwide. Biography McNeal was discovered by Rogers/Grantham. Her career took off during a visit to Europe, when she teamed up with the Swedish producer team Rob'n'Raz. Their 1993 hit " In Command" went to No. 1 in Sweden. A few years later she started her own solo career with the single "Ain't That Just the Way". The single went gold and platinum in several countries. She then released her debut album ''My Side of Town.'' The biggest airplay hits from this album were " Stranded" and "Someone Loves You Honey". Her single "My Side of Town" went platinum and was a #1 hit in New Zealand. She managed to have three Top 10 hit singles in the UK.
