My Homeland Egypt Party
The My Homeland Egypt Party is an Egyptian political party that is composed of "diehards" of the Hosni Mubarak-era National Democratic Party. Overview The party, an independent popular movement, was formed in December 2013. Although Murad Muwafi was also in the running to be chosen as president of the party, Ahmed Gamal El Din was ultimately selected. The organization behind the party, called the Misr Baladi Front, has backed Abdel Fattah el-Sisi in the 2014 presidential race. Ahmed Gamal El Din
Ahmed Gamal El Din (born 11 November 1952) is a retired police general and Egypt's former minister of interior. He served in the Qandil cabinet. Early life and education El Din was born on 11 November 1952 in Gharbiya Province, Egypt. Abdel Ahad Gamal El Din, who was one of the major members of the National Democratic Party (NDP) during the Mubarak era, is his uncle. More specifically, elder El Din served as the parliamentary majority leader of the ruling NDP during the 2000s. El Din graduated from the Police Academy in 1974. He holds a license in law and policing. Career El Din is a retired security officer with the rank of major general. He was conscripted in the Army in 1971 in a mechanized infantry regiment and served in the 1973 War as a commander of a rifle platoon. The Egyptian Front ( ar-at, الجبهة المصرية, al-Gabha al-Masreya) is an alliance of political parties contesting the 2015 Egyptian parliamentary election in a joint list with the Independent Current Coalition, called Egypt. The alliance was established on 17 August 2014. Former presidential candidate Hamdeen Sabahi has criticized the alliance by stating that it represents "Mubarak-era politics". The Modern Egypt Party withdrew from the coalition. The Tagammu Party is not part of the coalition. The Egyptian Patriotic Movement and the My Homeland Egypt Party left the alliance and joined the For the Love of Egypt coalition following a failed attempt to merge the For the Love of Egypt coalition and the Egyptian Front. The House of Representatives ( ar, مجلس النواب, Maglis El Nowwab) is the lower house of Egypt's bicameral parliament. Formation of the House The 2014 constitution that was passed in the 2014 constitutional referendum has put into place the following rules: the House that is elected following the ratification of the constitution must have at least 450 members. In addition, prospective members must be Egyptian, must be at least 25 years old and must hold an education certificate. Also, the president can appoint, at the most, five percent of the members in the chamber. The House sits for a five-year term but can be dissolved earlier by the president. Murad Muwafi
Mourad Mouwafi or Muwafi ( ar, مراد موافي; born 2 February 1950) is an Egyptian politician and major-general. Mouwafi was also the governor of Northern Sinai during a 2011 uprising in the region. He was appointed the Director of the Egyptian Intelligence shortly before the end of the Mubarak regime. He was dismissed by former President Mohamed Morsi from the position on 8 August 2012. Abdel Fattah Saeed Hussein Khalil el-Sisi; (born 19 November 1954) is an Egyptian politician and retired military officer who has served as the sixth and current president of Egypt since 2014. Presidential elections were held in Egypt between 26 and 28 May 2014. There were only two candidates, former Egyptian defence minister Abdel Fattah el-Sisi and Egyptian Popular Current candidate Hamdeen Sabahi. El-Sisi won the election in a landslide victory, having received 97% of votes.
