Gentofte () is a district of Gentofte Municipality in the northern suburbs of Copenhagen, Denmark. Major landmarks include Gentofte Town Hall, Gentofte Hospital and Gentofte Church. European Curling Championships
The European Curling Championships are annual curling tournaments held in Europe between various European nations. The European Curling Championships are usually held in early to mid December. The tournament also acts as a qualifier for the World Championships, where the top eight nations qualify. In November 1974, a six-nations tournament was held in Zürich, Switzerland which included Switzerland, Sweden, Germany, France, Italy, and Norway. In March 1975, it was decided that the championships would be competed in December. At the semi-annual general meeting in Gävle, Sweden in April 2004, a new competition called the European Mixed Curling Championships was formed. Ulrik Schmidt
Ulrik Schmidt (born 19 August 1962) is a Denmark, Danish curling, curler. He currently skips the Danish national team, while he throws third stones. Schmidt's first international appearance was at the 1984 World Junior Curling Championships, where he skipped the Danish team to a 9th-place finish. He was then picked up by Sören Bang to play lead at the 1987 European Curling Championships, placing fourth. He was the team's alternate at the 1991 Euros, skipped by Gert Larsen, placing 6th. Schmidt skipped his own team beginning in 1996. That season, he finished 5th at the European Championships and 6th at the 1997 Ford World Men's Curling Championship. Lead (curling)
In curling, the lead is the person who delivers the first two stones of the end for their team. On most teams, where the lead does not act as skip or vice, the lead will sweep for each of their teammates shots. Because of the free-guard-zone rule, which prevents leads from removing most of an opponents guards, leads are usually proficient at throwing guards and draws, and throw few takeouts or other power shots.
