My Baby (band)
My Baby is a Dutch-New Zealand band from Amsterdam. Their music is a mix of blues, country and funk. My Baby was founded in 2012 by previous members of the Amsterdam soul band The Souldiers. My Baby are Cato van Dijck (lead vocals, bass and violin), her brother Joost van Dijck (drums), and Daniel 'Dafreez' Johnston (guitars). Biography The band was discovered in their early years by the PR-Manager of bass player Larry Graham (Sly & the Family Stone, Graham Central Station, Prince). In 2012, he performed together with the band during his Dutch tour, including Paradiso and the North Sea Jazz Club. In 2013, their debut album ''My Baby Loves Voodoo!'' got released on jazz label Embrace Recordings. My Baby's second album ''Shamanaid'' came out in 2015. To promote the album, My Baby did fourteen opening shows for the American blues guitarist Seasick Steve during his ''Sonic Soul Tour'' in the United Kingdom. Down The Rabbit Hole (DTRH) is a three-day music festival that takes place in the Groene Heuvels leisure area in the village of Ewijk (near Nijmegen) in the Netherlands. It was first organized in 2014 and has since been held annually late June or early July. Like Lowlands it is organized by Mojo Concerts and marketed as a competitor to Best Kept Secret. A Campingflight to Lowlands Paradise (commonly called Lowlands or Lowlands Festival), is an annual three-day music and performing arts festival, held in the Netherlands. The festival is held east of Amsterdam in Biddinghuizen, at Spijk en Bremerberg, which is adjacent to Walibi Holland. Although the main focus is on music - rock, pop, dance, hip hop and alternative - Lowlands also offers indoor and outdoor cinema, (street) theatre, cabaret and stand-up, ballet, literature and comic strips. In recent years, the festival is attended by around 55,000 visitors, and features over 200 acts on more than ten stages every year which are named according to the NATO phonetic alphabet apart from the Heineken stage (named after the beer brewer Heineken, the main sponsor of the festival since 2015). Zwarte Cross
The Zwarte Cross Festival is the largest paid festival in the Netherlands, and the largest motor event in the world. The 19th edition in 2015 had 197,450 visitors and the 20th edition in 2016 numbered 220,000 visitors. The festival is a combination of motorcross, music, theatre and stunts. 'Zwarte Cross' literally means 'black cross'; it is a reference to the illegal motocross races in the 1960s. History The first edition of the ''Zwarte Cross'' took place in 1997. It was a motorcross in which anyone could compete on a motorcycle, moped or scooter. About 150 people competed, and there were 1000 visitors.
