My Apocalypse
"My Apocalypse" is a song by American heavy metal band Metallica, and the second single from their studio album ''Death Magnetic''. On August 26, 2008, it was made available for streaming on the band's official website, as well as a download (for Platinum Members only) on the ''Death Magnetic'' website Mission: Metallica. The song was later released as a digital single in the iTunes Store. The band first performed this song in Birmingham, UK, on March 25, 2009, during their World Magnetic Tour. "'My Apocalypse' was a cool song," remarked bassist Robert Trujillo. "It was fast; it had the thrash element of the past." The name of its parent album is derived from its lyric, "Death magnetic, pulling closer still." At the 2009 Grammy Awards, the single won the "Best Metal Performance" category. Heavy metal (or simply metal) is a genre of rock music that developed in the late 1960s and early 1970s, largely in the United Kingdom and United States. The Canadian Hot 100 is a music industry record chart in Canada for songs, published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. The Canadian Hot 100 was launched on the issue dated March 31, 2007, and is currently the standard record chart in Canada; a new chart is compiled and officially released to the public by ''Billboard'' on Tuesdays but post-dated to the following Saturday. The chart is similar to ''Billboard''s US-based Hot 100 in that it combines physical and digital sales as measured by Nielsen SoundScan, streaming activity data provided by online music sources, and radio airplay as measured by Broadcast Data Systems. Ultratop is an organization which generates and publishes the official record charts in Belgium. Ultratop is a non-profit organization, created on the initiative of the Belgian Entertainment Association (BEA), the Belgian member organization of the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry. Two parallel sets of charts are concurrently produced and published, one on behalf of Belgium's mainly Dutch-speaking Flanders region, and the other catering to the nation's mainly French-speaking region of Wallonia.
