Mwezé Ngangura
Mwezé Ngangura (born 7 October 1950) is a film director from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC). Early years Mwezé Ngangura was born in Bukavu, DRC on 7 October 1950. At the age of twenty he won a scholarship to go to Belgium and study at the Institut des arts de diffusion, graduating in 1975. While a student he made two short films, ''Tamtam-Electronique'' and ''Rhythm and blood''. Returning to Zaire in 1976 he became a lecturer at three colleges in Kinshasa: the National Institute of Arts, Kinshasa, National Institute of Arts (INA), Institute of Science and Information Technologies (ISTI) and Studio-School of the Voice of Zaire (SEVOZA). For ten years Mwezé Ngangura made TV documentaries in Zaire. He made his first documentary, ''Cheri Samba'', in 1980. This is a portrait of a popular young painter from Kinshasa. Bukavu
Bukavu is a city in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), lying at the extreme south-western edge of Lake Kivu, west of Cyangugu in Rwanda, and separated from it by the outlet of the Ruzizi River. It is the capital of the South Kivu province and as of 2012 it had an estimated population of 806,940. In 2021 it has an estimated urban population of 1,133,000. History Bukavu is part of the ancient territory of Bushi Kingdom, an ethnic group of South-Kivu. It was governed by a "Muluzi" Nyalukemba, when the first Arabs, then the European arrived in Bushi at the end of the 19th century. 'Muluzi' or 'Baluzi' in the plural means 'the nobleman' or 'nobility' to Shi. Before the Europeans came in Bushi Kingdom, Bukavu was called "Rusozi". Benoît Lamy
Benoît Lamy (; 19 September 1945 – 15 April 2008) was a Belgian film director, best known for his picture ''Home Sweet Home'' (1973). Biography Lamy was born in Arlon in the Belgian Province of Luxembourg and died in Braine-l'Alleud, Walloon Brabant, Belgium. His film debut ''Home Sweet Home'' starring Claude Jade and Jacques Perrin won a Diploma award at the 8th Moscow International Film Festival. It was also nominated for a Golden Prize award and received 14 international awards from Montréal to Tehran. Along with Gabrielle Borile, their picture ''Combat de fauves'' (1997) won a Golden Bayard award at the Namur International Festival of French-Speaking Film. Kin-Kiesse
''Kin Kiesse'' is a 1982 documentary film about "Kin" (Kinshasa), the capital of Zaire, and the capital of paradoxes and excesses, commentated on by one of its naïf artists, the painter Chéri Samba. We discover the "Kin" of night clubs, high-rise buildings, bicycle-taxis, shoe shiners and hairdressers, the "Kin" of poor neighborhoods, but, above all, the "Kin" of music, where all the genres rub elbows, from beer party brass bands to the rumba to traditional dances, without leaving out the in-fashion bands of the time. Lieutenant General Charles Tombeur, 1st Baron of Tabora (4 May 1867 – 2 December 1947) was a Belgian military officer and colonial civil servant. As well as holding several major administrative positions in the Belgian Congo, he is particularly known for his role as commander of the Belgian colonial military, the ''Force Publique'', during the first years of World War I. His military career culminated in the capture of Tabora in German East Africa in September 1916. Marollien
Brusselian (also known as , , , or ) is a near-extinct dialect native to Brussels, Belgium. It is essentially a heavily- Francisized Brabantian Dutch dialect that incorporates a sprinkle of Spanish loanwords dating back to the rule of the Low Countries by the Habsburgs (1519–1713). Brusselian was widely spoken in the Marolles/Marollen neighbourhood of the City of Brussels until the 20th century. Jules Shungu Wembadio Pene Kikumba (14 June 1949 – 24 April 2016), known professionally as Papa Wemba (), was a Congolese singer and musician who played Congolese rumba, soukous, and ndombolo.
