Mustafa Yılmaz
Mustafa Yılmaz (born 5 November 1992) is a Turkish chess player who received the FIDE title of Grandmaster (GM) in September 2012. He is a three-time Turkish Chess Champion. He earned the titles of FIDE Master (FM) in 2008 and International Master (IM) in 2009. He is a native of Mamak in Ankara. Yılmaz began playing chess at the age of seven, encouraged by his older sister Ezgi Yılmaz, also a Turkish chess champion. He attended the same chess course in Mamak, Ankara with Kübra Öztürk, who became a Woman Grandmaster (WGM). In 2008, Yılmaz was admitted to the Turkish national chess team. The same year, he took part in the 38th Chess Olympiad held in Dresden, Germany. In 2009, he became the youngest Turkish chess champion, defeating Barış Esen in the final round and reaching a total score of 11½/13. Haik Mikaeli Martirosyan ( hy, Հայկ Միքայելի Մարտիրոսյան; born 14 July 2000) is an Armenian chess player. He was awarded the title Grandmaster by FIDE in 2017. he is the second-highest rated Armenian player. Career Martirosyan won the World Youth Chess Championship in the Under 16 category in 2016. In 2017 he played for the World team that won the Match of the Millennials in St. Louis, US scoring 4 points from 7 games. In 2018, he won the Armenian Chess Championship and played for the Armenian team in the 43rd Chess Olympiad in Batumi with a performance rating of 2708. Later in the same year, he also won the Zurich Christmas Open edging out Rasmus Svane, S. L. Narayanan, Dennis Wagner and Andrei Istrățescu. The FIDE Grand Swiss Tournament 2023 is an upcoming chess tournament that forms part of the qualification cycle for the World Chess Championship 2024. It will be an 11-round Swiss-system tournament with 114 players competing from 25 October to 5 November 2023 in the Isle of Man. The winner and runner-up of the tournament will earn the right to the play in the Candidates Tournament 2024. The event will be held in parallel with the FIDE Women's Grand Swiss Tournament 2023. The European Chess Club Cup is an annual chess tournament for club teams from Europe. It is organised by the European Chess Union. The competition is held with the Swiss system over seven rounds. Fabiano Luigi Caruana (born July 30, 1992) is an American chess grandmaster. A chess prodigy, Caruana became a grandmaster at the age of 14 years, 11 months, and 20 days—the youngest grandmaster in the history of both Italy and the United States at the time. Born in Miami to Italian parents, Caruana grew up in Park Slope, Brooklyn. He played for the United States until 2005, when he transferred his national federation affiliation to Italy. He earned his grandmaster title in 2007, and in the same year won his first Italian Chess Championship, a feat he repeated in 2008, 2010, and 2011. He won the Dortmund Sparkassen Chess Meeting in 2012, 2014, and 2015. The Tata Steel Chess Tournament is an annual chess tournament held in January in Wijk aan Zee, the Netherlands. It was called the Hoogovens Tournament from its creation in 1938 until the sponsor Koninklijke Hoogovens merged with British Steel to form the Corus Group in 1999, after which the tournament was called the Corus Chess Tournament. Corus Group became Tata Steel Europe in 2007. Despite the name changes, the series is numbered sequentially from its Hoogovens beginnings; for example, the 2011 event was referred to as the 73rd Tata Steel Chess Tournament. Demre Kerigan
Demre is a town and district in the Antalya Province on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, named after the river Demre. Demre is the Lycian town of Myra, the home of Saint Nicholas of Myra. The district was known as ''Kale'' until it was renamed in 2005. Until the 1920s the majority of people who lived in Demre (Myra) were Christian Greeks.
