Mustafa Said Qadir
Mustafa Said Qadir (born 6 July 1958 in Qaladize, Sulaymaniyah Governorate) has been Vice President of Kurdistan Region under Nechirvan Idris Barzani's administration since 8 September 2019. Mustafa earned a degree from Technical Institute of Agriculture in Baghdad in 1979. He was a political prisoner under the Ba'athist Iraq. He used to hold senior positions within Patriotic Union of Kurdistan, including membership in PUK politburo. Currently he is one of the leaders of the Gorran Movement. Mustafa became a member of the newly established Kurdistan National Assembly in its first the parliamentary election of 1992, and he was appointed as minister of interior in PUK's Sulaymaniyah administration in 1998. He was also minister of Peshmerga. Peshmerga
The Peshmerga ( ku, پێشمەرگه, Pêşmerge, lit=those who face death) is the Kurdish military forces of the autonomous Kurdistan Region of Iraq. According to the Constitution of Iraq, the Peshmerga, along with their security subsidiaries, are responsible for the security of Kurdistan Region, due to the fact that the Iraqi Armed Forces are forbidden by Iraqi law to enter Iraqi Kurdistan. These subsidiaries include Asayish (intelligence agency), '' Parastin u Zanyarî'' (assisting intelligence agency) and the Zeravani (Gendarmerie). The history of Peshmerga dates back to 18th century, starting out as a strictly tribal pseudo-military border guard under the Ottomans and Safavids and later changing to a well-trained, disciplined guerrilla force in the 19th century. 1992 Kurdistan Region Parliamentary Election
On 19 May 1992 elections were held to the Kurdistan National Assembly, the parliament of the Kurdistan Region in Iraq. At the time, the National Assembly had 105 seats, of which 5 were reserved for the Assyrian community. Parties had to achieve more than 7% of the vote to be elected. Nechirvan Idris Barzani ( ku, نێچیرڤان بارزانی, translit=Nêçîrvan Barzanî; born 21 September 1966) is a Kurdish politician serving as the second President of Kurdistan Region, Iraq. He was elected into office by the Kurdistan Region Parliament in June 2019. Nechirvan Barzani was appointed as Vice President of the Kurdistan Democratic Party since 2010. He previously served as Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government from March 2007 to August 2009 and March 2012 to May 2019.
