Mustafa Nur-Ul Islam
Mustafa Nur-Ul Islam (1 May 1927 – 9 May 2018) was a Bangladeshi academic. In 2011, he was appointed a National Professor of Bangladesh. He was awarded Ekushey Padak in 1981 and Independence Day Award in 2010 by the Government of Bangladesh. He was the founder director of Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy, the Director General of Bangla Academy and the Chairman of Bangladesh National Museum. In 2011, he was appointed a National Professor. He edited a literary magazine named ''Sundaram''. Early life Islam was born on 1 May 1927 to the writer Sadat Ali Akhand and Rabeya Khatun in the village of Chingashpur, adjacent to Mahasthangarh in Bogra District. Education and career Islam graduated from the University of Calcutta in 1948 and got his post-graduate degree from the University of Dhaka and PhD from the London University. Bangla Academy
The Bangla Academy ( bn, বাংলা একাডেমি, ) is an autonomous institution funded by the Bangladesh government to foster the Bengali language, literature and culture, to develop and implement national language policy and to do original research in the Bengali language. Established in 1955, it is located in Burdwan House in Ramna, Dhaka, within the grounds of the University of Dhaka and Suhrawardy Udyan. The Bangla Academy hosts the annual Ekushey Book Fair. The Bangladesh National Museum ( bn, বাংলাদেশ জাতীয় জাদুঘর), is the national museum of Bangladesh. The museum is well organized and displays have been housed chronologically in several departments like department of ethnography and decorative art, department of history and classical art, department of natural history, and department of contemporary and world civilization. ''The Sangbad'' ( bn, সংবাদ) is a Bengali-language daily newspaper, founded in 1951 and published from Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the oldest newspaper in Bangladesh. History The Sangbad was founded in 1951 and published from Dhaka, Bangladesh. Its first owner was Nasiruddin Ahmad and its first editor was Khairul Kabir. During the 1950s and 1960s the newspaper expressed strong views opposed to the Ayub Khan government of Pakistan, and was accordingly repressed. Its offices and printing pressed were burned during the crackdown in March 1971, and it remained closed during the entire Bangladesh Liberation War. On 31 October 2017 a journalist of the Sangbad was arrested under the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Act. Jahangirnagar University ( JU) is a publicly funded university located in Savar, Dhaka, Bangladesh. It is the only fully residential university in Bangladesh.
