Mustafa Lutfi
Dr. Mustafa Lutfi was the Minister of Education of the Maldives from 2008 to 2010. He also served as the Chancellor of Maldives National University from 2008 to 2012. He is currently the Special Advisor on Social Policy at the President's Office at rank of a Minister. In July 2023, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih awarded the Order of the Dignified Rule of the Dhiyamigili Dynasty (ODRDD) (ނިޝާން ދިޔަމިގިލީ ޝަރަފުގެ ޢިއްޒަތް) (ނ.ދ.ޝ.ޢ) to Dr. Lutfi in recognition of his national contributions to the government over a period of more than 34 years and his invaluable contributions to the education sector of the Maldives. The award was presented at an official ceremony held at the Maldives Centre for Social Education (MCSE) in commemoration of the Maldives’ 58th anniversary of independence. Chancellor (education)
A chancellor is a leader of a college or university, usually either the executive or ceremonial head of the university or of a university campus within a university system. In most Commonwealth and former Commonwealth nations, the chancellor is usually a ceremonial non-resident head of the university. In such institutions, the chief executive of a university is the vice-chancellor, who may carry an additional title such as ''president'' (e.g. "president & vice-chancellor"). The chancellor may serve as chairperson of the governing body; if not, this duty is often held by a chairperson who may be known as a pro-chancellor. Maldives National University
The Maldives National University (Dhivehi: ދިވެހިރާއްޖޭގެ ޤައުމީ ޔުނިވަރސިޓީ) is a public university located in the Maldives. In 1973, the first Ministry of health was created at NMU. In 1974, the vocational and trade center was established, providing mechanical and electrical trades. In 1984 the institution for Teacher education was created. In 1987 a tourism school was established for the sole purpose of tourism in the Maldives. In 1991 The Institute of Management and Administration was created; in order, to train staff for public and private services. In 1998 The Maldives of Higher Education was founded. Ibrahim Mohamed Solih
Ibrahim Mohamed Solih ( dv, އިބްރާހީމް މުޙައްމަދު ޞާލިޙް; ar, إبراهيم محمد صالح; born 1 March 1962), better known as Ibu (އިބޫ), is a Maldivian politician and the president of the Maldives since 17 November 2018. Solih was first elected to the People's Majlis in 1994, aged 30, as the MP from his home atoll of Faadhippolhu. Solih played a leading role in the formation of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and the Maldives Political Reform Movement from 2003 until 2008, which led to the country adopting a new modern constitution and multiparty democracy for the first time in its history. Solih was also a senior member of parliament and the Special Majlis.
