Musser Scout Reservation
Musser Scout Reservation is a Boy Scouts of America camp located along the Unami Creek on over of Marlborough Township, Pennsylvania. The Reservation is made up of three distinct camps: Camp Delmont, Camp Hart, and Camp Garrison. The reservation is part of the largest contiguous forest in Southeastern Pennsylvania. The camp is owned by the Cradle of Liberty Council. The Cradle of Liberty Council, Natural Lands, Montgomery County Lands Trust, and Montgomery County signed a perpetual conservation easement permanently protecting over of the Musser Scout Reservation. History Prior to 1996, the Philadelphia Council owned and operated Camp Hart, while the Valley Forge Council owned and operated Camp Delmont. Marlborough Township is a township in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 3,178 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Upper Perkiomen School District. History In 1741, Marlboro Township was partitioned from the original Salford Township. At some point in time after the 1940 U.S. Federal Census, the township was officially renamed Marlborough Township. The Cradle of Liberty Council (#525) is a Boy Scouts of America council created in 1996 with the merger of the former Philadelphia Council (covering the city and county of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Philadelphia) and the former Valley Forge Council (covering Delaware County, Pennsylvania, Delaware and Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, Montgomery counties). Resica Falls Scout Reservation
Resica Falls Scout Reservation is a camp in East Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania operated by the Cradle of Liberty Council of the Boy Scouts of America. History In 1955 the Philadelphia and Valley Forge Councils purchased the property jointly. Dedicated in April 1956, the camp opened in 1957 and was operated by both councils until 1965, when Valley Forge Council bought out the Philadelphia Council's interest. Originally, the reservation was to consist of six camps, each holding two hundred and fifty boys. Three camps—Camp Big Springs, Camp Great Bend and Camp Firestone—were built on the reservation. The property is now owned by the Cradle of Liberty Council. Camp Firestone and most of Camp Great Bend are currently closed because of lack of campers. Scouting in Pennsylvania has a long and rich tradition, from 1908 to the present day, serving thousands of youth in programs that suit the environment in which they live. History Early history (1908–1950) One of the earliest Scouting groups in Pennsylvania began in 1908 in Pottsville, when a Superintendent with the Pennsylvania State Police, Lynn G. Adams, formed a troop using Baden-Powell's handbook, ''Scouting for Boys''. The troop was made up of two patrols, one sponsored by the Pottsville Mission and the other by the YMCA.
