Muskingum County Courthouse
The Muskingum County Courthouse is a historic building in Zanesville, Ohio. It was designed by T.B. Townsend and H. E. Myer, and built in 1870 with stone, brick, and slate in the Second Empire architecture style. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and is located at 4th and Main Streets. The site served as the capitol of Ohio from October 1, 1810, until May 1, 1812, and the 9th and 10th sessions of the Ohio General Assembly met here at the building that was formerly at the site before those sessions were returned to Chillicothe in May 1812. The former building on the site was then used as the Muskingum County Courthouse until current one was constructed in 1874. The 1809 date stone from the old building was incorporated into the new building and may be seen over the front steps. Zanesville, Ohio
Zanesville is a city in and the county seat of Muskingum County, Ohio, United States. It is located east of Columbus and had a population of 24,765 as of the 2020 census, down from 25,487 as of the 2010 census. Historically the state capital of Ohio, Zanesville anchors the Zanesville micropolitan statistical area (population 86,183), and is part of the greater Columbus-Marion-Zanesville combined statistical area. History Zanesville was named after Ebenezer Zane (1747–1811), who had blazed Zane's Trace, a pioneer trail from Wheeling, Virginia (now in West Virginia) to Maysville, Kentucky through present-day Ohio. In 1797, he remitted land as payment to his son-in-law, John McIntire (1759–1815), at the point where Zane's Trace met the Muskingum River. Wood County Courthouse And Jail
The Wood County Courthouse and Jail, located in Bowling Green, Ohio, United States, is Wood County's third courthouse. It was built after citizens decided to move the county seat from Perrysburg to Bowling Green. Ground was broken on November 28, 1893, and the cornerstone was laid on July 4, 1894. The architectural firm of Yost & Packard of Columbus designed the courthouse and construction was overseen by T.B. Townsend of Youngstown. The winning tender for the project was $153,803 and the final construction costs totaled $255,746. The County Commissioners took possession of the new building on August 31, 1896, and the new Common Pleas Courtroom was dedicated on September 7, 1896. The Tuscarawas County Courthouse is located at 125 East High Avenue in New Philadelphia, Ohio. The courthouse was constructed by Thomas Boyd in 1882 in the Classical Revival style.
