Musk Railway Station
Musk railway station is in Musk, in central Victoria, Australia. It was opened in September 1881 under the name of Musk Creek, the name being shortened to Musk in 1905. The station closed with the line on Monday, 3 July 1978. In 1969, the platform was in length, and a weighbridge was in place. By 1975, the station was being worked under no-one-in-charge conditions. Re-opening During the mid to late 1980s, the Daylesford Spa Country Railway (DSCR) used ganger's trolleys to convey passengers on short trips from Daylesford station to the Wombat State Forest, about halfway between Daylesford and Musk. Daylesford Spa Country Railway
The Daylesford Spa Country Railway (which is operated by the Central Highlands Tourist Railway) is a volunteer-operated gauge tourist railway located in Victoria, Australia. It operates on a section of the closed and dismantled Daylesford line, and currently runs services between Daylesford and the hamlet of Bullarto. History Victorian Railways era The original line was opened in two stages, from the mainline junction at Carlsruhe to the town of Trentham, on 16 February 1880. The remainder of the line was opened a month later on 17 March. The line initially had significant goods and passenger traffic, with 50,000 passengers travelling the line in 1884 alone. However, over the next seventy years, both traffic and the quality of line gradually degraded, until the last passenger service was replaced with a road coach in 1978. Wombat State Forest
The Wombat State Forest (locally: Bullarook) is located west of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, between Woodend and Daylesford, at the Great Dividing Range. The forest is approximately in size and sits upon Ordovician or Cenozoic sediments. The Bullarook Wombat State Forest was proclaimed in 1871. The only initiative in Australia to introduce community forestry, within the internationally understood context, is in the Wombat State Forest.
