The music of Wyoming includes a number of well-regarded music festivals, as well as a heritage that includes Native American, European, and American music. Music history The first music in Wyoming was played by various Native American tribes in the present-day U.S. state of Wyoming. European settlers later arrived, bringing with them harmonicas, flutes, fiddles, and guitars because these were relatively lightweight and easy to carry on the frontier. Casper College
Casper College is a public community college in Casper, Wyoming. It is one of the largest and most comprehensive community colleges in the region. Established in 1945 as Wyoming's first junior college and initially located on the third floor of Natrona County High School, Casper College moved to its current site 10 years later. Jackson Hole (originally called Jackson's Hole by mountain men) is a valley between the Gros Ventre and Teton mountain ranges in the U.S. state of Wyoming, near the border with Idaho, in Teton County, one of the richest counties in the United States. The term "hole" was used by early trappers, or mountain men, as a term for a large mountain valley. Riverton, Wyoming
Riverton is a city in Fremont County, Wyoming, United States. The city's population was 10,682 at the 2020 census, making it the largest city in the county. History The city, founded in 1906, is an incorporated entity of the state of Wyoming. The community was named Riverton because of the four rivers that meet there. The town was built on land ceded from the Wind River Indian Reservation, a situation that often makes it subject to jurisdictional claims by the nearby Eastern Shoshone and Northern Arapaho tribes. A legal ruling on November 7, 2017, by the 10th Circuit Court, ruled again in the EPA reservation boundary dispute. Though the decision was complex, the 10th Circuit Court answered plainly. Shoshoni, Wyoming
Shoshoni is a town in Fremont County, Wyoming, United States. The population was 471 at the 2020 census, down from 649 at the 2010 census. The town is named for the Shoshone Indian tribe, most of whom live on the nearby Wind River Indian Reservation. Cheyenne Frontier Days
Cheyenne Frontier Days is an outdoor rodeo and western celebration in the United States, held annually since 1897 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. It bills itself as the "World's Largest Outdoor Rodeo and Western Celebration." The event, claimed to be one of the largest of its kind in the world, draws nearly 200,000 annually. Idlewhile
Idlewhile is a Longmont, Colorado based Americana folk band, described as pop infused country/bluegrass. Formed by Steven Phoenix, Giselle Collazo, Miguel Ramos (formerly of the Boulder, CO band Cabaret Diosa])and songwriter friend Doug Holden in May 2010. Paul Tedesco joined the project on double bass and Matthew Lawlor stepped in to take over drums, banjo and harmony vocals in November 2010. Holden left the group in October 2011, and was replaced by Chad Granoff on guitar and mandolin before being replaced by Seth Goodman (formerly of the Boulder, CO band 18 Switchbacks.) in August 2012.
