Popular music in British Columbia is strongly associated with the city of Vancouver. As Canada's third largest city, Vancouver has one of the most influential rock and pop scenes in the country. The Vancouver Folk Music Festival (VFMF), founded in 1978, is an outdoor multistage music festival, located at Jericho Beach Park on the west side of Vancouver, British Columbia. Capilano University (CapU) is a teaching-focused public university based in North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, located on the slopes of the North Shore Mountains, with programming that also serves the Sea-to-Sky Corridor and the Sunshine Coast. The Molson Canadian Theatre in Coquitlam, British Columbia is a 1,074-seat live event theatre adjoining the Hard Rock Casino Vancouver. The $20 million venue opened with a show by Little Richard on September 16, 2006, and was named for local radio legend Red Robinson.
