Music Hop
''Music Hop'' is a Canadian music television series that aired on CBC Television from 1963 to 1967. Premise Pop and rock music was featured in this series for youth, essentially a Canadian version of '' American Bandstand''. Production The first season (1963–1964) was a Toronto production with host Alex Trebek who welcomed visiting musicians and introduced songs from the house musicians before a studio audience of dancing teenagers. He was replaced in following seasons by Dave Mickie, a disc jockey for CKEY in that time. Series musicians were Norm Amadio and the Rhythm Rockers, joined by The Girlfriends who were a female vocal trio. The producer of this season was Stan Jacobson. Alex Trebek
George Alexander Trebek (; July 22, 1940 – November 8, 2020) was a Canadian-American game show host and television personality. He is best known for hosting the syndicated general knowledge quiz game show ''Jeopardy!'' for 37 seasons from its revival in 1984 until his death in 2020. Trebek also hosted a number of other game shows, including ''The Wizard of Odds'', '' Double Dare'', ''High Rollers'', '' Battlestars'', ''Classic Concentration'', and '' To Tell the Truth''. He also made appearances, usually as himself, in numerous films and television series. A native of Canada, Trebek became a naturalized U.S. citizen in 1998. He received the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Game Show Host eight times for his work on ''Jeopardy!'' He died on November 8, 2020 at the age of 80, after a 20-month battle with stage IV pancreatic cancer. Trebek had been contracted to host ''Jeopardy!'' until 2022. ''Where It's At'' is a Canadian music television series which aired on CBC Television from 1968 to 1969. Premise Episodes featured rock and pop music selections, produced in various CBC production cities: * Halifax: host Frank Cameron, producer Paul Baylis * Montreal: host Robert Demontigny, producer Ed Mercel * Toronto: host Jay Jackson with The Majestics, producer Allan Angus. * Vancouver: host Fred Latremouille, producer Ken Gibson * Winnipeg: producer Larry Brown Anne Murray and The Lincolns were regularly featured on the Halifax episodes, while The Guess Who were frequently seen from Winnipeg and Susan Jacks (Pesklevits) a regular performer on the Vancouver editions. Queen's University at Kingston, commonly known as Queen's University or simply Queen's, is a public research university in Kingston, Ontario, Canada. Queen's holds more than of land throughout Ontario and owns Herstmonceux Castle in East Sussex, England. Queen's is organized into eight faculties and schools. The Church of Scotland established Queen's College in October 1841 via a royal charter from Queen Victoria. The first classes, intended to prepare students for the ministry, were held 7 March 1842 with 13 students and two professors. ''Let's Go'' started at CBC Vancouver as a summer musical series for teenagers, July 17, 1964, to Sept. 4, 1964. There were 8 Lets Go shows produced and broadcast locally on CBUT Vancouver, Friday evenings at 7:30 PM. Fred Latremouille and Randi Conlin were Hosts, with the Classics as the house band. Regular performers were Gillian Russell, Susan Pesklevits (Susan Jacks), Mike Campbell, Nancy Davis, Tom Northcott, Howie Vickers, Marcel Chouinard, Stan Cayer, and Ed Whiting. Produced and directed by Ain Soodor, script assistant Chris Paton, studio director Al Vitols. The Classics band members were, Tom Baird (keyboard/writer), Claire Lawrence (sax), Brian Russell (guitar), Glenn Miller (bass), Gary Taylor (drums), and Howie Vickers (lead vocalist). David Marsden
David Charles Marsden (born in Toronto, Ontario) is a Canadian radio broadcaster. Initially operating under the on-air name of Dave Mickie, with much fast-talking patter, he was a notable Toronto DJ of the 1960s who attracted critical attention from Marshall McLuhan. Reinventing himself, and using his real name of David Marsden, he became a much more laid-back free-form DJ, notably at CHOM in Montreal and CHUM-FM in Toronto in the 1970s. He then became the driving force behind Brampton, Ontario radio station CFNY in the 1980s, becoming an influential figure in the Canadian music industry by giving many Canadian and international alternative rock artists major Canadian radio exposure. Frank's Bandstand
{{Short description, Television series ''Frank's Bandstand'' (1964–67) was the Halifax segment of the ''Music Hop'' series. Frank Cameron (1938–2024) introduced music with regulars Patricia McKinnon, Karen Oxley, D.J. Jeffries and Davie Wells. Brian Ahern was music director and band leader and Manny Pitson was the producer. The music was pre-recorded then performed "live" to video tape from Halifax. Local rock bands had guest shots each week and did two tunes in the show. Bands included the Five Sounds (with Jack Harris), Spring Garden Road, and The Great Scotts. The Axemen and The Brunswick Playboys were also among the frequent guests on this variety show from Halifax. It was well presented and highly anticipated by viewers across the country.
