Museo Del Calcio
The ''Museo del Calcio'' is a sports museum dedicated to the history of the Italy national football team, located in a building of the Centro Tecnico Federale di Coverciano in the Coverciano ''quartiere'' of Florence, Italy. The museum, which is part of the Fondazione Museo del Calcio, is a center of historical documentation of football in Italy. The museum displays numerous memorabilia of the Italian Football Federation since 1934 (balls, medals, shoes, cups, sweaters, etc.), as well as a digital information center with an archive of photographs and videos. History The museum was idealized around the time of the 1990 FIFA World Cup in Italy, as part of the expansion of the Centro Tecnico Federale di Coverciano, on the initiative of Fino Fini, president of the Fondazione Museo del Calcio. Centro Tecnico Federale Di Coverciano
''Il Centro Tecnico Federale di Coverciano'', is the central training ground and technical headquarters of the Italian Football Federation, located in the Coverciano ''quartiere'' of Florence, Italy. History The Center was founded by Luigi Ridolfi and Dante Berretti and designed by architects Francesco Tiezzi and Arnaldo Innocenti. The decision to build the Center in Coverciano was decided on 29 March 1952 (resolution of the Federal Council of 8 May 1951), the date of which the land was purchased by the FIGC. Just over a year later, construction work began, and was completed in October 1957. The official inauguration of the Center was on 6 November 1958, in the presence of the then-president of the FIGC, Bruno Zauli. Amedeo Biavati (; 4 April 1915 – 22 April 1979) was an Italian footballer, who was born in Bologna. He was usually deployed as forward or as a midfielder on the wing. A very fast and creative player, with an eye for goal, precise crossing, and excellent technical ability and dribbling skills, Biavati is regarded as one of the greatest Italian players and wingers of all time, and is largely remembered for popularising the use of notable skills and feints in Italian football, in particular the ''step over''. Pietro Anastasi (; 7 April 1948 – 17 January 2020), nicknamed ''Petruzzu 'u turcu'' () by fans, was an Italian footballer who played mainly in the role of a forward. He started his professional club career in Italy with Varese in 1966, helping the club to achieve promotion to Serie A in his first season with the side; after a promising debut campaign in the Italian top-flight the following season, he joined Juventus in 1968, where he enjoyed a highly successful and prolific eight–year stint, winning three Serie A titles. Ernesto Castano (; born 2 May 1939) is an Italian former professional footballer who played as a defender. Giacinto Facchetti (; 18 July 1942 – 4 September 2006) was an Italian association football, footballer who played as a left-back for Inter Milan from 1960 to 1978. Giovanni "Gianni" Rivera (; born 18 August 1943) is an Italian politician and former footballer who played as a midfielder. During his career as a footballer he was mostly utilised as an attacking midfielder. The 1982 FIFA World Cup was the 12th FIFA World Cup, a quadrennial Association football, football tournament for men's senior national teams, and was played in Spain between 13 June and 11 July 1982. The 1968 UEFA European Football Championship final tournament was held in Italy. This was the third UEFA European Championship, an event held every four years and organised by UEFA. The final tournament took place between 5 and 10 June 1968. It was in this year that the tournament changed its name from the "European Nations' Cup" to the "European Championship". There were also some changes in the tournament's qualifying structure, with the two-legged home-and-away knock-out stage being replaced by a group phase. Superga Air Disaster
The Superga air disaster occurred on 4 May 1949, when a Fiat G.212 of Avio Linee Italiane (Italian Airlines), carrying the entire Torino football team (popularly known as the ''Grande Torino''), crashed into the retaining wall at the back of the Basilica of Superga, which stands on a hill on the outskirts of Turin. All thirty-one people on the flight died. Background The Avio Linee Italiane Fiat G.212CP was carrying the team home from Lisbon, where they had played a friendly match with S.L. Benfica in honour of the Portuguese captain, Francisco Ferreira. In the incident, the whole active Torino team (almost all of the Italy national football team) lost their lives.
