Muse Award
New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT) is a non-profit membership organization for professional women in film, television and digital media. The organization is an educational forum for media professionals, and a network for the exchange of information, and resources. History NYWIFT was founded in 1977 and brings together more than 2,000 professionals, including EMMY and Academy Award winners, who work in all areas of the entertainment industry — above and below the line. Academy Award
The Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars, are awards for artistic and technical merit for the American and international film industry. The awards are regarded by many as the most prestigious, significant awards in the entertainment industry worldwide. Given annually by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS), the awards are an international recognition of excellence in cinematic achievements, as assessed by the Academy's voting membership. The various category winners are awarded a copy of a golden statuette as a trophy, officially called the "Academy Award of Merit", although more commonly referred to by its nickname, the "Oscar". Jeanne Betancourt (born October 2, 1941 in Vermont) is an American author and television script writer best known for her '' Pony Pals'' series of books. Biography Betancourt was born and raised in rural Vermont. She lived across from a dairy farm; this rural setting would later influence many of her works. During her childhood, she never considered being an author. Instead, she wanted to dance, and studied tap dance. When she grew too tall (at five feet, eight inches) to be a Rockette, she decided to become a religious sister in her junior year of high school. Linda Kahn
Linda M. Kahn (September 15, 1948 – August 30, 2021) was an American television executive. She held senior posts at Nickelodeon and Scholastic Media, and was president of the board of the New York Women in Film & Television (NYWIFT). Early life Kahn was born in Chicago, the daughter of Albert Kahn and Estelle Bain Kahn. Her family was Jewish. She graduated from Washington University in St. Louis in 1970, and earned a master's degree in education at Boston University. Career Kahn taught school in Massachusetts after college. In the 1980s she was vice-president of acquisitions at Nickelodeon, and helped to launch Nick at Nite, a popular evening package of original shows and old sitcoms, targeted at Baby Boomers and their families.
