Murter
Murter (; it, Mortero; la, Colentum) is an island in the Croatian part of the Adriatic Sea. Population The main settlements on the island are Murter, located on the north-western part of the island, and the southern part of Tisno. Other settlements on the island include the villages of Betina on the northwestern side and Jezera on the southeastern coast. In the 2011 census, the total island population is about 3,608 inhabitants. Geography The island is in the northwest part of the Šibenik archipelago, separated from the mainland by a wide sea canal at Tisno which is spanned by a short draw-bridge. The island covers an area of about , and the highest point is the peak of Raduč at above sea level. There are old military tunnels dug deep inside the hill. Murter-Kornati is a municipality in central Dalmatia, Croatia. It is named after the two settlements that it consists of; Murter, located on the eponymous island, which it shares with Tisno, and Kornati which consists of the eponymous archipelago. Yugoslav Torpedo Boat T7
''T7'' was a sea-going torpedo boat operated by the Royal Yugoslav Navy between 1921 and 1941, after spending World War I in Austro-Hungarian Navy service. Originally ''96 F'', she was a 250t-class torpedo boat, and saw active service during World War I, performing convoy, patrol, escort and minesweeping tasks, and Anti-submarine warfare, anti-submarine operations. Following Austria-Hungary's defeat in 1918, ''96 F'' was allocated to the Navy of the Kingdom of Serbs, Croats and Slovenes, which later became the Royal Yugoslav Navy, and was renamed ''T7''. At the time, she and the seven other 250t-class boats were the only modern sea-going vessels of the fledgling maritime force. During the interwar period, ''T7'' and the rest of the navy were involved in training exercises and cruises to friendly ports, but activity was limited by reduced naval budgets. Betina
Betina is a village located on the Croatian island of Murter, seven km from Tisno, where a drawbridge connects the island and the mainland. The largest of the Šibenik archipelago islands, and the closest to the mainland, it has been populated since the time of the Illyrians (tribe of Liburns). Remains of the Roman settlement of Colentum as well as many ruins of Roman villas, murals, and mosaic testify to its occupation during the period of the Roman Empire. History The island of Murter encompasses 17.9 km2 (with nearby islands 25.6 km2.) The island was first mentioned by Scardon in memorials of Ptolemy. It was probably first named Srimač in 1251. When King Bela arrived in Dalmatia and in Klobučac near Trogir, he issued a deed of donation which details the borders of Šibenik. The island of Srimač was mentioned as a part of Šibenik. Tisno is a town and municipality in Šibenik-Knin County, Croatia. Etymology Tisno was named after the Croatian ikavian word ''tisno'' which means strait, which describes its location at the narrow strait separating the island of Murter from the mainland.
