Murry Bartow
Murry Linn Bartow (born August 18, 1961) is an American college basketball coach who most recently was the interim head coach for the UCLA Bruins. As the head coach of the East Tennessee State Buccaneers, he was twice named the conference coach of the year, first in the Southern Conference in 2004 and later in the Atlantic Sun Conference in 2007. Career UAB Bartow served as the head coach for his alma mater University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) from 1996 to 2002, succeeding his father Gene, the creator of the UAB Blazers men's basketball program. At UAB, he compiled a 103–83 overall record with a conference mark of 48–46 and one NCAA Tournament appearance. East Tennessee State Bartow was the men's head basketball coach at East Tennessee State University (ETSU) from 2003 to 2015. John Miller Murry (born 1979) is an American musician, singer-songwriter, composer and producer. He is from Tupelo, Mississippi, and currently lives in Drumlish, County Longford, Ireland. His debut solo record, ''The Graceless Age'', was issued on Evangeline Recording Co. in 2013 and listed by ''Uncut'' as one of the 10 best records of 2012. ''Mojo'' also included it in their 10 best albums of 2013; ''The Guardian'' included it in their Top 50 of 2013; and ''American Songwriter'' included it in their Top 5 of 2013. Murry has recorded and toured with Memphis singer-songwriter Bob Frank. Murry often writes and collaborates with the San Francisco-based singer-songwriter, Chuck Prophet. Paul Murry (November 25, 1911 – August 4, 1989) was an American cartoonist and comics artist. He is best known for his Disney comics, which appeared in Dell Comics and Gold Key Comics from 1946 to 1984, particularly the Mickey Mouse and Goofy three-part adventure stories in ''Walt Disney's Comics and Stories''. Biography Like many Disney comic book artists, Murry started his career working at the Walt Disney Studios. During his time there he was an assistant to legendary animator Fred Moore. Starting in 1943, Murry worked on Disney newspaper strips, beginning with several installments of the Sunday-only '' José Carioca'' strip. Publishing history The series originated with ''A Wrinkle in Time'', written from 1959 to 1960 and turned down by 26 publishers before Farrar, Straus and Giroux finally published it in 1962. John Middleton Murry Jr. (9 May 1926 – 31 March 2002) was an English writer who used the names Colin Murry and Richard Cowper. Early life Murry was the son of the writer John Middleton Murry and his second wife, Violet Le Maistre. His mother contracted pulmonary tuberculosis when Murry was 8 months old, and died just before his fifth birthday. Murry was nicknamed "Colin" by his grandmother, which later served as a semi-pseudonymous pen name for some of his books. Murry attended Rendcomb College, a progressive school in Gloucestershire. He enlisted in the Royal Navy in 1944 and applied to join the Fleet Air Arm as a pilot, but was turned down on the grounds of poor eyesight and was never in combat. After the war, he read Anglo-Saxon and English at Brasenose College, Oxford from where he graduated in 1949. He met Ruth Jezierski and married her in 1949. The couple had two daughters.
