Munirathna Naidu, commonly known as Munirathna, is an Indian film producer-turned-politician from Karnataka who is currently serving as the Minister of Horticulture and Planning, Programme Monitoring & Statistics of Karnataka from 4 August 2021. Member of the BJP, he was elected as a member of the Legislative Assembly of Karnataka from Rajarajeshwari Nagar in the years 2013, 2018 & 2020. He resigned from the Assembly in July 2019. 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election
The 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election was held on 12 May 2018 in 222 constituencies to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. The election was postponed in Jayanagar and Rajarajeshwari Nagar, following the death of the MLA B. N. Vijaya Kumar and a voter fraud scandal respectively till 28 May. The election saw a voter turnout of 72.13 per cent, the highest in Karnataka since 1952 assembly polls. The counting of votes took place on 15 May 2018. The Indian National Congress (INC) was seeking re-election, having governed the state since elections in 2013. while the Bharatiya Janta Party attempted to regain office, having previously governed the state in 2007 and from 2008 to 2013. ''Kurukshetra'' is a 2019 Indian Kannada-language mythological war film written by J. K. Bharavi and directed by Naganna. ''Raktha Kanneeru'' () is a 2003 Indian Kannada-language film directed by Sadhu Kokila, starring Upendra and Ramya Krishna. The film was produced by Munirathna and was later dubbed in Telugu. The screenplay and dialogues of the film were written by Upendra and the music was composed by Sadhu Kokila. Though it was initially claimed to be a remake of the 1954 Tamil film ''Ratha Kanneer'', the director clarified that his film was based on a Kannada play which was later adapted in Tamil as a play and then subsequently into the 1954 film.
