Mundo Marino
Mundo Marino is the largest aquarium in Argentina. It is located in San Clemente del Tuyú, Argentina. History Juan David Méndez sold his properties in Buenos Aires in the 1960s, and moved to San Clemente del Tuyú. He visited the United States in 1962, and was impressed by the quality of their oceanariums. Back in San Clemente, he bought 18 hectares of land, to work with the sick animals that got stranded in the beaches. Those animals were healed, and then returned to the sea when regained their full health. The aquarium was built next to a crab land, at the San Clemente stream. Mundo Marino had its first dolphin in 1977, and was first open for the public in the 1977/78 summer season. Nowadays, Mundo Marino has 20 pools, more than 50 sea mammals, more than 80 birds, and several fishes and other coastal animals. San Clemente Del Tuyú
San Clemente del Tuyú is an Argentine town in the '' Partido de la Costa'' district of the Province of Buenos Aires. History Noticed by Ferdinand Magellan in 1520, who gave nearby Cape San Antonio its name, Spanish authorities first surveyed the area in 1580. Led by reformist Governor Hernando Arias de Saavedra, his Guaraní staff christened the spot ''Rincón del Tuyú'' ("muddy corner"). First mapped by British Jesuit Thomas Falkner in 1744, the neighboring stream was named ''San Clemente'' by Spanish Jesuit José Cardiel. The waterfront area was soon purchased by the Ortiz de Rozas family, one of Argentina's most well-established landowners. Kasatka
Kasatka (1976 – August 15, 2017) was a wild caught female orca who lived at SeaWorld San Diego. Life Kasatka was captured off the southeastern coast of Iceland on October 26, 1978 with another young female whale named Kahana. Both were estimated to be around 2 years old. The two whales were housed in a sea pen in Grindavík before being shipped to SeaWorld later that year. Kasatka showed occasional aggression to humans. In 1993, she tried to bite trainer Ken Peters during a show, and again in 1999. On November 30, 2006, Kasatka grabbed Peters again and dragged him underwater twice during their show. Peters survived with minor injuries. After suffering incurable pneumonia from 2008 to 2017, Kasatka was euthanized at age 40 on August 15, 2017.
