Mumtaz Begum (born 7 April 1923) is an Indian retired actress who appeared in Bollywood films. Life and career Begum was born on 7 April 1923. Mumtaz Begum (born Kalyani Ray Chowdhury; May 20, 1923June 30, 1967) was a Bengali language activist from East Pakistan. She was awarded Ekushey Padak in 2012 by the Government of Bangladesh for her role in language movement. Background and education Begum was born to Mohimchandra Ray, a district judge and later a justice of Kolkata High Court and Makhanmoti Devi, a school teacher. She was a niece of litterateur Pramathanath Bishi. In 1944, she was married to Abdul Mannaf, an official of Kolkata Civil Supply Office and a student of law at Kolkata University. She passed the matriculation examination in 1938. Madhubala (born Mumtaz Jehan Begum Dehlavi; 14 February 1933 – 23 February 1969) was an Indian actress and producer who worked in Hindi-language films. She ranked as one of the highest-paid entertainers in India in the post-independence era, that coincided with the rise of Indian cinema on global levels. In a career spanning more than 20 years, Madhubala was predominantly active for only a decade but had appeared in over 60 films by the time of her death in 1969. Born and raised in Delhi, Madhubala relocated to Bombay with her family when she was 8 years old and shortly after appeared in minor roles in a number of films. Mumtaz Begum (born 1956) is a former mayor of Bangalore, India. She was Bangalore's *first Muslim mayor, *fourth woman mayor, *43rd mayor and was elected on 30 November 2005. She had been elected as a corporator of the Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BMP)thrice. She represented Shivajinagar Ward, which was part of British Cantonment during the colonial rule. A member of the Indian National Congress party, she was elected as a deputy mayor of Bangalore City Corporation in 1984, when she contested as a candidate of the Janata Party platform. Momtaz Begum (born 5 May 1974) is a Bangladeshi folk singer and the incumbent Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Manikganj-2 constituency since 2014 and Reserved Women's Seat-21 during 2009–2013. Referred to as "''The Music Queen''," she has recorded around 700 albums. Some of her notable albums include ''Return Ticket'', ''Ashol Boithoki'', ''Murshider Talim'', and ''Ronger Bazar''. Begum won Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Female Playback Singer three times for the films ''Nekabborer Mohaproyan'' (2014), ''Swatta'' (2017) and ''Maya: The Lost Mother'' (2019). Momtaz Begum-Hossain ( bn, মমতাজ বেগম-হোসেন; born 8 December 1981) is an English freelance journalist, craft expert and presenter. Early life Begum-Hossain was born and brought up in London, England. Her parents are from Bangladesh. She has three sisters. Begum-Hossain graduated with a BA (Hons) in geography from the University of Sussex.
