Mumbai-Bangalore Economic Corridor
The Bengaluru–Mumbai Industrial Corridor (BMIC) is a proposed economic corridor in India between Mumbai and Bangalore. The corridor is spread across the states of Karnataka and Maharashtra and passes through major cities such as Davanagere, Chitradurga, Hubli–Dharwad, Belagavi, Solapur, Kolhapur, Satara and Pune. The overall length of the corridor is around 1,000 km and covers an area of around 143,000 km2. The corridor is delineated around the existing National Highway 48 (NH48) (which connects Bangalore to Mumbai), the existing Bangalore-Mumbai railway line and the Dabhol–Bangalore Natural Gas Pipeline. The Indian government aims to generate an investment over from this corridor and expects it to create 2.5 million jobs. Dabhol–Bangalore Natural Gas Pipeline
The Dabhol – Bangalore Natural Gas Pipeline is a natural gas pipeline running from Dabhol, Maharashtra to Bangalore, Karnataka. It was commissioned on 3 December 2013 during the inaugural ceremony of the 8th Asia Gas Partnership Summit (AGPS). This project connected South India to the national gas grid for the first time. The project was constructed in a period of 19 months at an investment of with a design capacity of 16 million cubic metre per day at standard conditions of natural gas which can produce 3,000 MW of electric power. Economic corridors are integrated networks of infrastructure within a geographical area designed to stimulate economic development. They connect different economic agents in particular geographic area. Corridors may be developed within a country or between countries. Corridors exist in Asia, Africa, and other areas. Economic corridors often feature integrated infrastructure, such as highways, railroads and ports, and may link cities or countries. Corridors may be created to link manufacturing hubs, areas with high supply and demand, and manufacturers of value-added goods. When implemented, economic corridors are often one of a package of different measures including infrastructure development, visa and transport agreements, and standardisation. Visakhapatnam–Chennai Industrial Corridor (VCIC), also Vizag–Chennai Industrial Corridor, is a key part of the East Coast Economic Corridor (ECEC), India's first coastal corridor. VCIC is aligned with the Golden Quadrilateral and is poised to play a critical role in driving India’s Act East Policy and Make in India campaign. Chennai Bangalore Industrial Corridor
The Chennai-Bangalore Industrial Corridor Project is an upcoming mega infrastructure project of Government of India. The corridor plans to come up along Chennai, Sriperumbudur, Ponnapanthangal, Ranipet, Suburbans of Vellore, Chittoor, Bangarupalem, Palamaner, Bangarpet, Hoskote and Bangalore. It is expected to boost commerce between south India and east Asia by enabling quicker movement of goods from these places to the Chennai and Ennore ports and recently it has been planned to be extended to Coimbatore city of Tamil Nadu and Kochi city of Kerala.
