Mulben
Mulben ( gd, Am Muileann Bàn) is a hamlet situated at a crossroads that forms the intersection of the A95 road and the B9103 in the Moray council area of Scotland. It lies on the Burn of Mulben, 6.5 km (4 miles) west of Keith. Upon the arrival of the railway in 1858 linking it with Keith in the east and Elgin to the west it developed allowing the establishment of a primary school and a small number of services. Although the railway still remains, the station closed in 1964 and the building is now a private dwelling. Close by is the Glentauchers distillery to the east (opened in 1898) and the Auchroisk distillery to the west (opened in 1974). Tauchers Platform railway station served Glentauchers distillery and the hamlet of Tauchers. Upon the hill that commands the heights above the hamlet, one's view from afar is dominated by the extensive complex of bond sheds that form Malcolmburn, owned by and for the maturation of Chivas Regal. Tauchers Platform Railway Station
Tauchers Platform railway station served Glentauchers distillery, Mulben, Moray, Scotland that had originally opened in 1897 and the hamlet of Tauchers. The single platform halt was opened by the London, Midland and Scottish Railway circa 1923 on the Inverness and Aberdeen Junction Railway route for the convenience of workers at the site and for the general public from 1949. The station lay 3 miles 70 chains (6.2 km) from Keith railway station. History The station is generally said to have been opened at some point after 1923 and closed to passengers traffic on 7 December 1964, however the distillery remained open and is still operational (datum 2018). Auchroisk Distillery
The Auchroisk distillery is a whisky distillery in Banffshire, speyside Scotland. It was established after Dorie's Well was discovered and found to have water similar to the water used by the Glen Spey distillery, which was used by Justerini & Brooks to produce malt whisky for their blends. The well's water was used to produce a test batch of whisky at Glen Spey distillery, and was approved, which led to the start of construction of the Auchroisk distillery at the site of the well in 1972 to produce whisky for the J&B blend. Production started in 1974. The distillery produced its first single malt in 1978. The single malt was rebranded as 'The Singleton' in 1986, as the name 'Auchroisk' was perceived as too difficult for consumers outside Scotland. Glentauchers Distillery
Glentauchers distillery is a Speyside Scottish whisky distillery, founded in 1897. The building was designed by John Alcock, and overseen by Charles Doig & Son. It starting producing when James Buchanan Co. Ltd. and three members of Glentauchers Distillery Co. joined hands with Glentauchers a year after that. It was mothballed by United Distillers in 1985, and sold to Allied Distillers in 1989. Malts from this distillery are rarely bottled, usually, the produced whisky is used in blended whiskies. In 2000, an official bottling was released. This was a 15-year-old whisky. Before that a semi-official bottling was released by Gordon & MacPhail in the 1990s. Inverness And Aberdeen Junction Railway
The Inverness and Aberdeen Junction Railway (I&AJR) was a railway company in Scotland, created to connect other railways and complete the route between Inverness and Aberdeen. The Inverness and Nairn Railway had opened to the public on 7 November 1855 and the Great North of Scotland Railway (GNoSR) was building from Aberdeen to Keith. The I&AJR opened, closing the gap, on 18 August 1856. It found the GNoSR a difficult partner and passenger journeys from Inverness to the south via Aberdeen were inconvenient and circuitous. Zorbing (also known as globe-riding, sphereing, orbing) is the recreation or sport of rolling downhill inside an orb, typically made of transparent plastic. Zorbing is generally performed on a gentle slope but can also be done on a level surface, permitting more rider control. In the absence of hills, some operators have constructed inflatable, wooden, or metal ramps.
