Mukim Seria
Mukim Seria is a mukim in Belait District, Brunei. It has an area of ; the population was 21,214 in 2016. The mukim encompasses Seria, one of the only two towns in the district. It is home to the oil and gas industry of the country. Geography The mukim is located in the north-west of the Belait District, bordering the South China Sea to the north, Mukim Liang to the east, Mukim Labi to the south-east, Mukim Kuala Balai to the south and Mukim Kuala Belait to the west. The primary settlements within the mukim include Seria town, Kampong Sungai Bera, Kampong Lorong Tiga Selatan and Panaga. Belait River
The Belait River ( ms, Sungai Belait) is a river in Belait District, Brunei. It is the longest of the four main rivers in the country. History During World War II from 1941 onwards, the whole of Brunei was under Japanese occupation until 1945. On 26 May 1979, Borneo's only floating drydock arrived in Belait River. After being towed from Melbourne by a Japanese tug for 50 days, the 1943 Australian built drydock, formerly named AD 1001, was acquired by the Kuala Belait Shipyard. Sites Kuala Belait is one of the largest human settlements in the district in which the river passes through, while on the west bank lies the Kampong Sungai Teraban and Kampong Rasau. Anduki Airfield
Anduki Airfield () is a domestic airfield and heliport located in Seria, a town in the Belait District of Brunei Darussalam. It is operated by Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP), and uses Sikorsky S-92 and AgustaWestland AW139 helicopters in support of servicing offshore oil platforms. Brunei Shell Petroleum replaced the grass airstrip with a sealed instrument runway in 2008. Future upgrades include the addition of runway lighting, and an enhanced instrument approach procedure. Seria Oil Field
Seria oil field also known as Seria Field is the largest oil field in northwest Borneo, discovered in 1929. The oil is accumulated in Upper Miocene sandstone, trapped in Seria Anticline that straddles the present day coastline. This field has produced more than 1 billion barrels of oil for more than 75 years. Brunei Shell Petroleum (BSP) is the operator of this field. History The exploration of the field started in late 1926, when F. F. Marriot (British Malay Petroleum Company Field Superintendent) and T. G. Cochrane (General Manager of Sarawak Oilfields Limited) smelled "oil" (H2S) in the Kuala Belait and asked Straub, a Swiss geophysicist, to do a geophysical analysis of the area.
