Muinul Islam (born 1 July 1950) is a Bangladeshi economist and academician. He was awarded Ekushey Padak by the Government of Bangladesh in 2018. Early life and education Islam was born in Noapara village, Raozan Upazila in Chittagong District to Obaidul Haque and Shazma Khatun. Raozan Upazila
Raozan,gohira ( bn, রাউজান) is an upazila of Chattogram District, in Chattogram Division, Bangladesh. It was established in 1947. Geography Raozan has 45,777 households and a total area of 246.58 km2. The two main rivers are Karnaphuli and Halda. Raozan is surrounded by Fatikchhari Upazila on the north, Boalkhali Upazila and Karnafuli river on the south, Rangunia and Kawkhali (Rangamati) Upazilas on the east, and Hathazari and Fatikchhari Upazila on the west. The river Karnaphuli flows on the south side of the Raozan Upazila and the river Halda flows on the west side. Chittagong District
Chittagong District, renamed the Chattogram District, is a district located in the south-eastern region of Bangladesh. It is a part of the Chattogram Division. The port city of Chattogram, which is the second largest city in Bangladesh, is located within this district. History Because of the natural harbour, Chattogram had been an important location for trade, drawing Arab traders as early as the 9th century CE. The region fell under the rule of kings from Arakan in the 16th and 17th centuries, but later, the Mughal Army under Shaista Khan conquered Chattogram. Ekushey Padak
Ekushey Padak ( bn, একুশে পদক; lit. "Twentyfirst Award") is the second highest civilian award in Bangladesh, introduced in memory of the martyrs of the Bengali Language Movement of 1952. The award is given to recognize contributions in a number of fields, including culture, education, and economics. The Ministry of Cultural Affairs administers the award. The award consists of an 18 carat gold medal weighing 3 tolas and a certificate of honour. The medal was designed by the artist Nitun Kundu. The amount of the cash reward was originally ৳ 25,000, but it was subsequently increased to ৳ 100,000 in 2015. Next it was increased to tk 2,00,000 in 2017 and to tk 4,00,000 as of November 2019.
