Major General
Major general (abbreviated MG, maj. gen. and similar) is a military rank used in many countries. It is derived from the older rank of sergeant major general. The disappearance of the "sergeant" in the title explains the apparent confusion of a lieutenant general outranking a major general, whereas a major outranks a lieutenant. East Bengal Regiment
The East Bengal Regiment ( bn, ইস্ট বেঙ্গল রেজিমেন্ট) is an infantry regiment ( regimental system type) and the largest military formation of the Bangladesh Army. History The East Bengal Regiment was formed on 15 February 1948, following the partition of India and the creation of Pakistan in 1947. As the infantry of the newly formed Pakistan Army was made up exclusively of men from West Pakistan, it was seen as a necessity to raise a regiment in East Pakistan. Two companies composed of Bengali Muslims from the British Indian Army Pioneer Corps and Bihar Regiment allotted to the Pakistan Army were regimented in to the first training regiment of the East Bengal Regiment under Lieutenant Colonel V. Bangladesh Army
The Bangladesh Army is the land warfare branch and the largest component of the Bangladesh Armed Forces.
