Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman
Muhammad Shafiqur Rahman (born 25 September 1949) is a journalist and Bangladesh Awami League politician who is a former Jatiya Sangsad member representing the Chandpur-4 constituency. Career Rahman is the former president of the Jatiya Press Club He was elected to parliament from Chandpur-4 as a Bangladesh Awami League candidate on 30 December 2018. He received 173,369 votes while his nearest rival of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party, Harunur Rashid, received 30,799 votes. Rahman was reelected to parliament from Chandpur-4 in 2024. Benazir Ahmed is a retired Bangladeshi police officer who served as 30th Inspector General of Bangladesh Police. Prior to join as IGP, he served as the Director General of Rapid Action Battalion from January 2015 to April 2020. Benazir is currently on a US sanctions list due the Rapid Action Battalion's alleged role in forcibly disappearing citizens since December, 2021. Chowdhury Nafeez Sarafat
Chowdhury is a title of honour, usually hereditary, originating from the Indian subcontinent. It is an adaption from Sanskrit. During the Mughal rule, it was a title awarded to eminent people, while during British rule, the term was associated with zamindars and social leaders. The common female equivalent was Chowdhurani. Rapid Action Battalion or RAB, is an anti-crime and anti-terrorism unit of the Bangladesh Police. This elite force consists of members of the Bangladesh Army, Bangladesh Police, Bangladesh Navy, Bangladesh Air Force, Border Guard Bangladesh, Bangladesh Civil Service and Bangladesh Ansar. Jatiya Press Club is the professional club for journalists of Bangladesh located in the capital Dhaka. The current president is Farida Yasmin and the General Secretary is Elias Khan. History The Jatiya Press Club was founded in 1954 as the East Pakistan Press Club. It was formed to be run by an elected committee guided by its rules and regulations.
