Muhammad Mohar Ali
Muhammad Mohar Ali ( bn, মোহাম্মদ মোহার আলী); 1929–2007) was a British Bangladeshi Islamic scholar, historian and barrister. He is the only Bengali to have received the King Faisal International Prize. Academic career Mohar Ali was born in 1929 in Khulna in Bengal. Studying at Dhaka University, he obtained a degree in history in 1952 and a master's degree in 1953. In 1963 he obtained a PhD from SOAS, University of London, and in 1964 studied bar-at-law at Lincoln's Inn, London. Between 1954 and 1976 he worked as a university lecturer in Bengal, becoming a professor, and moved in 1976 to Saudi Arabia to teach Islamic history at Imam Muhammad ibn Saud Islamic University in Riyadh for 12 years, followed by 7 years of teaching at the Islamic University of Madinah. Khulna
Khulna ( bn, খুলনা, ) is the third-largest city in Bangladesh, after Dhaka and Chittagong. It is the administrative centre of Khulna District and Khulna Division. Khulna's economy is the third-largest in Bangladesh, contributing $53 billion in gross state product and $95 billion in purchasing power parity (PPP) in 2020. In the 2011 census, the city had a population of 663,342. Khulna is on the Rupsha and Bhairab Rivers. A centre of Bangladeshi industry, the city hosts many national companies. The Islamic University of Madinah ( ar, الجامعة الإسلامية بالمدينة المنورة) was founded by the government of Saudi Arabia by a royal decree in 1961 in the Islamic holy city of Medina. Many have associated the university with the Salafi ideology, and have stated it has exported Salafi-inclined theologians around the world. Other disagree and state that the institution is objective and scientific, being detached to any singular ideology. The university received institutional academic accreditation without exceptions from the National Commission for Academic Accreditation and Assessment in April 2017. Jamiat Ihyaa Minhaaj al-Sunnah (Movement of the Revival of the Prophet's Way) also JIMAS, is a Muslim charity in the United Kingdom. Its headquarters is in Ipswich. It produces pamphlets, videos, classes, provides speakers, and holds conferences on Islam. It describes itself as "non-sectarian", "homegrown", and "particularly successful at teaching Islam to the youth and carries out a substantial amount of work at universities, colleges and mosques".
