Muhammad Mahfuzur Rahman
Muhammad Mahfuzur Rahman (born 1 December 1961) is a retired Bangladeshi general. He was a lieutenant general and the former principal staff officer (PSO) under the prime minister's office and head of the Armed Forces Division. Early life and education He was born on 1 December 1961 in Rajshahi district. He was a cadet of Jhenidah cadet college. In 1981 he graduated from Bangladesh Military Academy and was commissioned from 5th Long Course into the Corps of Infantry. He completed further studies in Staff College and Armed Forces War Course at Mirpur. He is a former adjutant general at army headquarters. He is a graduate of Defence Services Command and Staff College and Armed Forces War Course, Mirpur Bangladesh. Lieutenant General (Bangladesh)
Lieutenant General (abbreviated as Lt. Gen. and in contraction simply known as 'general') is a senior rank in the Bangladesh Army. It is the second-highest active rank of the Bangladesh Army and was created as a direct equivalent of the British military rank of lieutenant general. It is also considered a 3 star rank. Till 2007 it was the highest rank in the Bangladesh Armed Forces as all chiefs of army staff held this rank and navy and air chiefs were of two-star ranks. Lieutenant general is a higher rank than Major General, but lower than General. Lieutenant general is the equivalent of vice admiral in the Bangladesh Navy and air marshal in the Bangladesh Air Force.
