Muhammad Fawwaz Mohamad Jan
Ustaz Muhammad Fawwaz Mohamad Jan is a Malaysian politician who has served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Permatang Pauh since November 2022. He is a member of the Malaysian Islamic Party (PAS), a component party of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) coalition. His victory in the election for the Permatang Pauh seat is one of the biggest upsets in the 2022 general election as it ended the 40-year long parliamentary service of the family of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in the parliamentary area as he surprisingly defeated his daughter and defending MP Nurul Izzah Anwar in the election. As MP for Permatang Pauh, he was infamous for trying to prohibit the sale of alcohol to non-Muslims in Sunway Carnival Mall and for his seditious remarks in social media after that.
