Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh
Mian Muhammad Ateeq Shaikh ( ur, ) is a Pakistani politician and a member of Senate of Pakistan, affiliated with the Mutahidda Qaumi Movement. He was born in Dubai and raised in Islamabad. He is a businessman by profession and is the founder and chief executive of the Shalimar Group of Companies. Political career Shaikh began his political career by joining the Muttahida Qaumi Movement in 2012. He became a member of the central executive committee of the Muttahidda Qaumi Movement before becoming a member of the coordination committee in 2013. In 2014, he became the first president of the Muttahidda Qaumi Movement chapter in Punjab. In 2015, he was selected by the Muttahidda Qaumi Movement to run for the seat of Senate of Pakistan in 2015 Pakistani Senate election from Sindh. Some members of the MQM questioned the decision of Altaf Hussain to give the ticket to Shaikh to run in the Senate election from Sindh despite the fact that he hails from Punjab. Senate of Pakistan or Aiwān-e-Bālā Pākistān ( ur, , , literally "Pakistan upper house"), is the upper legislative chamber of the bicameral legislature of Pakistan, and together with the National Assembly makes up the Parliament of Pakistan. First convened in 1973, the Senate's composition and powers are established by thArticle 59of the Constitution of Pakistan. Each of the four provinces are represented by 23 senators regardless of population, while the Islamabad Capital Territory is represented by four senators, all of whom serve staggered six-year terms. The Senate secretariat is located in the east wing of the Parliament Building; the National Assembly convenes in the west wing of the same building. Altaf Hussain (Pakistani Politician)
Altaf Hussain ( ur, ; ; born 17 September 1953 in Karachi) is a British Pakistani politician who is known as the founder of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement. He holds United Kingdom citizenship and has been living in exile in the United Kingdom since the start of Operation Clean-up. Since 2015, he has been a fugitive from the Anti Terrorism Court of Pakistan on the charges of murder, targeted killings, treason, inciting violence and hate speeches. He is due to go on trial in the United Kingdom in January 2022 for promoting terrorism and unrest through hate speech in Pakistan.
