Muhamad Kanan
Muhamad Kanan ( ar, محمّد كنعان; he, מוחמד כנעאן, born 17 October 1955) is an Israeli Arab politician who served as a member of the Knesset for the United Arab List and the Arab National Party between 1999 and 2003. Biography Born in Tamra, Kanan gained a BA at the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, before studying community centre management at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem and then working as a high school teacher. Between 1980 and 1988 he served as deputy mayor of his hometown, and chaired the management council of the town's community centre between 1981 and 1989. He was elected to the Knesset on the United Arab List list in the 1999 elections, but on 19 February 2001, left the party to establish the Arab National Party along with Tawfik Khatib. Tamra
Tamra ( ar, طمرة, he, טַמְרָה or ) is an Arab city in the North District of Israel located in the Lower Galilee north of the city of Shefa-Amr and approximately east of Acre. In it had a population of . History Tamra is an ancient village on a hill. Old squared stone blocks have been reused in village homes. Cisterns and tombs carved into rock have also been found here. It has been suggested that Tamra is identical to Kefar Tamartha, a Jewish village mentioned in the Talmud as the home of 3rd century amora Rabbi Shila of Kefar Tamarta. Crusader period In the 1253, during the Crusader period, John Aleman, Lord of Caesarea, sold several villages, including Tamra, to the Hospitallers. Abbas Zakour ( ar, عباس زكور, he, עבאס זכור; born 30 December 1965) is an Israeli Arab politician and a former member of the Knesset for the United Arab List. Biography Born in Acre, Zakour gained a BA in Islamic Sciences at the Al-Quds University in 1990. He later worked as director of the Almotak newspaper. For the 2006 Knesset elections, he was placed fourth on the United Arab List list, and became a Knesset member when the party won four seats. In December 2008, he left the UAL and established a new party, the Arab Centre Party, to run in the 2009 Knesset elections. The electoral threshold, or election threshold, is the minimum share of the primary vote that a candidate or political party requires to achieve before they become entitled to representation or additional seats in a legislature. This limit can operate in various ways, e.g. in party-list proportional representation systems where an electoral threshold requires that a party must receive a specified minimum percentage of votes (e.g. 5%), either nationally or in a particular electoral district, to obtain seats in the legislature.
