Muesli Belt Malnutrition
Muesli belt malnutrition is a term coined by Professor Vincent Marks, author of the book '' Panic Nation'', to describe the supposed phenomenon that parents feeding their children what is seen as an "extremely healthy" diet (the term ''muesli'' is possibly derisively used here as an exemplar of healthy food) could be depriving their children of essential fats. A study carried out at Bristol University examining the diets of British toddlers found that such fears were overstated. The study found that while children in the lowest fat group had lower intakes of zinc and vitamin A, children in the highest fat group ingested less iron and vitamin C. Overall the children were not seriously deprived of any essential nutrients, regardless of their diets. Muesli
Muesli ( ) is a cold breakfast dish, the primary ingredient of which is rolled oats, which is set to soak overnight and eaten the next morning. Essential Fats
Essential fatty acids, or EFAs, are fatty acids that humans and other animals must ingest because the body requires them for good health but cannot synthesize them. Only two fatty acids are known to be essential for humans: alpha-linolenic acid (an omega-3 fatty acid) and linoleic acid (an omega-6 fatty acid). These are supplied to the body both as the free fatty acid or more commonly as some glyceride derivative. Deficiency in these fatty acids is rare. These fatty acids are essential because they are precursors to vitamins, cofactors. These derivatives include prostaglandins, leukotrienes, thromboxanes, lipoxins, and others. Orthorexia
Orthorexia nervosa (also known as orthorexia) (ON) is a proposed eating disorder characterized by an excessive preoccupation with eating healthy food.
