Alphonse Mucha
Alfons Maria Mucha (; 24 July 1860 – 14 July 1939), known internationally as Alphonse Mucha, was a Czech painter, illustrator and graphic artist, living in Paris during the Art Nouveau period, best known for his distinctly stylized and decorative theatrical posters, particularly those of Sarah Bernhardt. He produced illustrations, advertisements, decorative panels, as well as designs, which became among the best-known images of the period. In the second part of his career, at the age of 57, he returned to his homeland and devoted himself to a series of twenty monumental canvases known as ''The Slav Epic'', depicting the history of all the Slavic peoples of the world, which he painted between 1912 and 1926. In 1928, on the 10th anniversary of the Czechoslovak declaration of independence, independence of Czechoslovakia, he presented the series to the Czech nation. Geraldine Mucha
Geraldine Thomson Mucha (5 July 1917 – 12 October 2012) was a Scottish composer. She was born in London and studied at the Royal Academy of Music. She married the Czech writer Jiří Mucha, son of the painter Alphonse Mucha, and in 1945 moved to Prague. She lived there for the greater part of the next sixty years. Early life and education Geraldine Mucha was born in London on 5 July 1917. She was the only child of Marcus Thomson (sometimes spelled Thomsen) who came from Glasgow and of Maisie Evans, a New Zealander. Marcus Thomson studied at the Royal Academy of Music (R.A.M.) in London between 1902 and 1906 and became a successful baritone singer. The IS-2 Mucha (''Instytut Szybownictwa'' – gliding institute) was a single-seat training glider designed and built in Poland starting in 1947. Development The IS-2 Mucha (''Mucha'' – Fly) was designed to provide an intermediate solo trainer for the revived Polish gliding movement after World War II, along with the IS-1 Sęp advanced soaring and competition aircraft, IS-3 ABC primary trainer and IS-A Salamandra basic trainer. The SZD-22 Mucha Standard (''Szybowcowy Zakład Doświadczalny'' – Glider Experimental Works) was a single-seat aerobatic glider designed and built in Poland from 1957. Development Developed especially for the 1958 World Gliding Championships, the SZD-22 Mucha Standard was a direct descendant of the IS-2 Mucha (''Fly''), from 1948, and SZD-12 Mucha 100, from 1953, with very similar lines and dimensions. The Mucha Standard was designed to the new Standard class rules which discarded the old Olympic 15-15-15 Span, Aspect Ratio, Area rule. Jaroslava Muchová Syllabová (15 March 1909 – 9 November 1986) was a Czech painter, the daughter of painter Alphonse Mucha and the sister of writer and translator Jiří Mucha. Biography Muchová was born in New York on 15 March 1909 her parents were in the United States while her father tried unsuccessfully to raise funds to support his project ''The Slav Epic'' ( cs, Slovanská epopej). Kurtis Mucha (born June 3, 1989) is a Canadian ice hockey goaltender. He is currently playing with the Alberta Golden Bears of the CIS. Mucha played major junior hockey, with the Portland Winter Hawks and Kamloops Blazers, in the Western Hockey League (WHL) from 2005 to 2010 where he played a total of 245 games and 13,708 minutes in net to established new WHL records for most career games and most career minutes played by a goaltender.
