Mrinal Banerjee
Mrinal Banerjee (1938 – 3 February 2010) was Power Minister in the Left Front Ministry in the Indian state of West Bengal. He had joined politics as an employee of Durgapur Steel Plant. In spite of his qualifying as an associate member of the Institute of Engineers, he preferred to remain a worker and serve the trade union. He was general secretary of the Steel Workers Federation of India and secretary of the West Bengal State Committee of the Centre of Indian Trade Unions. In 1996, Jyoti Basu inducted him into the state cabinet as Minister for Industrial Reconstruction and State Public Undertakings. Dhakuria
Dhakuria is a locality in the city of Kolkata, (previously Calcutta), in West Bengal, India. It is located in the southern part of the city and is surrounded by Ballygunge and Kasba in the north, Haltu in the east, Jadavpur/ Garia in the south and Lake Gardens/ Jodhpur Park in the west. Centre of Indian Trade Unions, CITU is a National level Trade Union in India and its trade union wing is a spearhead of the Indian Trade Union Movement. The Centre of Indian Trade Unions is today one of biggest assemblies of workers and classes of India. It has strong presence in the Indian state of Tripura besides a good presence in West Bengal, Kerala and Kanpur. They have an average presence in Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh.
