''Mr Smith'' is a 1976 short film written and directed by Adrian Lyne and starring Peter Barkworth. It was often shown as a 'filler' in London's West End cinemas along with horror or soft porn films such as ''Emmanuelle''. It was Lyne's second short film, following ''The Table'' (1973), and was well received at the London Film Festival. Adrian Lyne
Adrian Lyne (born 4 March 1941) is an English film director, writer and producer. Having begun his career directing 1970s television commercials, Lyne made well-received short films which were entries in the London Film Festival. He started making feature length films in 1980 and is known for sexually charged stories and characters, often using stylised light. He is best known for directing ''Flashdance'', ''9½ Weeks'', '' Fatal Attraction'', ''Jacob's Ladder'' and ''Indecent Proposal''. For directing ''Fatal Attraction'', Lyne received a nomination for the Academy Award for Best Director. ''Emmanuelle'' is a 1974 French drama film directed by Just Jaeckin. It is the first installment in a series of French softcore pornography films based on the novel ''Emmanuelle''. The film stars Sylvia Kristel in the title role about a woman who takes a trip to Bangkok to enhance her sexual experience. The BFI London Film Festival is an annual film festival founded in 1957 and held in the United Kingdom, running for two weeks in October with co-operation from the British Film Institute. Carole Hayman
Carole Hayman is an English writer, broadcaster, actor and director. She was born in Kent, and attended Leeds University and the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. She has been an actress and theatre director and was an associate director at the Royal Court Theatre in the late eighties. Stella Tanner (1 January 1925 – 26 March 2012) was an English radio and television actress. Tanner was born in 1925 and studied at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA). She left her focus on dramatic acting to form the Tanner Sisters with her sister, Frances Tanner. Together, the Tanner Sisters made hundreds of appearances on British radio and television during the 1950s, even performing alongside Buddy Holly in March 1958.
