Mr. Citizen (TV Series)
''Mr. Citizen'' is a 30-minute American anthology series of dramas based on actual acts of heroism performed by average people. It was produced by Ed Byron and hosted by Allyn Edwards. Among its guest stars were Hal Holbrook, Paul Lukas, James Daly and Anne Seymour. Thirteen episodes aired on ABC from April 10, 1955 to July 13, 1955. Each episode included a prominent American's presentation of the Mister Citizen Award to the person featured. Format Episodes began with a dramatization of something that an ordinary citizen did that was heroic in nature. When that segment concluded, a camera was turned to the studio audience, revealing the person who had performed the heroic action. He or she was brought on stage and interviewed, after which the award was presented. Liggett Group ( ), formerly known as Liggett & Myers Tobacco Company, is the fourth largest tobacco company in the United States. Its headquarters are located in Durham, North Carolina, though its manufacturing facility is 30 miles to the west in Mebane, North Carolina. ''This Is Your Life'' is an American reality documentary series broadcast on NBC radio from 1948 to 1952, and on NBC television from 1952 to 1961. It was originally hosted by its creator and producer Ralph Edwards. In the program, the host surprised guests and then took them through a retrospective of their lives in front of an audience, including appearances by colleagues, friends, and family. Edwards revived the show in 1971–1972, and Joseph Campanella hosted a version in 1983. Edwards returned for various specials in the late 1980s. Concept The idea for ''This Is Your Life'' arose while Edwards was working on game show ''Truth or Consequences''. ''The Big Story'' is an American radio and television crime drama which dramatized the true stories of real-life newspaper reporters. The only continuing character was the narrator, Bob Sloane. Radio Sponsored by Pall Mall cigarettes, the program began on NBC Radio on April 2, 1947. With Lucky Strike cigarettes sponsoring the last two seasons, it was broadcast until March 23, 1955. The radio series was top rated, rivaling Bing Crosby's ''Philco Radio Time''. Produced by Barnard J. Prockter, the shows were scripted by Gail Ingram, Arnold Pearl and Max Ehrlich. Tom Vietor and Harry Ingram directed the series. Gail and Harry Ingram were husband and wife. The theme was taken from ''Ein Heldenleben'' ("A Hero's Life"), a tone poem by Richard Strauss. Stuart Erwin (February 14, 1903 – December 21, 1967) was an American actor of stage, film, and television. Early years Erwin was born in Squaw Valley, Fresno County, California. He attended Porterville High School and the University of California. Career Erwin began acting in college in the 1920s, having first appeared on stage. William Dennis Gargan (July 17, 1905February 17, 1979) was an American film, television and radio actor. He was the 5th recipient of the Screen Actors Guild Life Achievement Award in 1967, and in 1941, was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Joe in '' They Knew What They Wanted''.
