Mr. Bronsplein
Established in 1948, Mr. Bronsplein is a large sports complex located on the Gemenelandsweg, in Paramaribo, Suriname. History Before World War II the field was already used for association football matches, and was known in the Sranan Tongo, Sranantongo language as "Lanti Djari". In 1946 the initiative was taken to introduce organized matches and competitions to the field by Frits Juda. J. Sleur and Walther Braithwaite, Walther. Between 1946 and 1952 organized matches were held on the pitch, with the introduction of the Bronsplein Sport Bond organizing committee in 1952. Paramaribo
Paramaribo (; ; nicknamed Par'bo) is the capital and largest city of Suriname, located on the banks of the Suriname River in the Paramaribo District. Humphrey Mijnals
Humphrey August Mijnals (21 December 1930 – 27 July 2019) was a footballer who played international football for both the Netherlands and Suriname. Career Mijnals began his career with the Surinamese football club S.V. Robinhood in the 1950s, where he was one of the stars of the team and won four national titles. Then he played for six months for América Futebol Clube (PE) in Brazil. After this he returned to Suriname. Following his transfer in 1956 to Utrecht club USV Elinkwijk, he received a signing-on fee of $15,000 while his club received a transfer fee of 3000 guilders. Frank Mijnals (born 8 February 1933) is a Surinamese former football player who has played for S.V. Robinhood in the Surinamese Hoofdklasse, and for USV Elinkwijk in the Dutch Eredivisie. He also played for the Suriname national team. He is the son of former Surinamese international football player Louis Mijnals, and the younger brother of Humphrey Mijnals, an international footballer as well with whom he played for the majority of his career. Jules Theodorus Lagadeau (born 31 July 1939 & deceased 27 August 2019), was a Surinamese football player and manager who has played for S.V. Transvaal in the Hoofdklasse and for the Suriname national team. Career Lagadeau was born 1939 in Paramaribo. He grew up playing for the Benjamin Boys on the Mr. Bronsplein. As an admirer of local star Humphrey Mijnals, Lagadeau joined S.V. Robinhood but parted ways with the club soon after his idol left to play professionally in the Netherlands, joining S.V. Transvaal shortly thereafter. In 1963 he went on a 3 month trial period with Dutch Eredivisie club PSV Eindhoven, and in 1965 he was on trial for 3 months with F.C. Ronald Wilfried Kolf (born June 5, 1939) is a former Surinamese football manager and player who last served as the technical director of the Suriname national team and a board member of Surinamese football club S.V. Leo Victor. As a player, he played in the Surinamese Hoofdklasse for S.V. Robinhood and for S.V. Transvaal, having taken a brief player-coaching role at Concordia in Moengo, he would return to Paramaribo to finish his playing career at Transvaal. He is one of the most successful managers in Suriname, having led Transvaal and Robinhood to a total 15 national titles.
