Mpumalanga Women's Cricket Team
The Mpumalanga women's cricket team is the women's representative cricket team for the South African province of Mpumalanga. They compete in the Women's Provincial Programme and the CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition. History Mpumalanga Women joined the South African domestic system in the 2004–05 season, competing in the Women's Provincial League. In their first season, they finished bottom of their group of four, losing all six of their matches. They have competed in the tournament ever since, but have never made it out of the initial group stage. The side has also competed in the CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition since its inception in 2012–13, but have again never made it out of the initial group stages. The CSA Women's Provincial Programme, also known as the CSA Women's Provincial One-Day Tournament, is a women's domestic one-day cricket competition organised by Cricket South Africa. The competition currently sees sixteen provincial teams competing in 50-over matches, and has existed, under various names, since the 1995–96 season. The most successful side in the history of the competition are Western Province, with eight recorded title wins. The holders are North West, who won the 2021–22 tournament. History The tournament began in the 1995–96 as the Women's Inter-Provincial Tournament, with four teams competing: Natal, Northerns, Transvaal and Western Province. The winner is unknown. The CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition is a women's domestic Twenty20 cricket competition organised by Cricket South Africa. The tournament began in the 2012–13 season, and currently sees sixteen teams competing. Western Province are the most successful side in the history of the competition, with seven title wins, as well as being the current holders, winning the 2021–22 tournament. History The tournament began in the 2012–13 season, running alongside the CSA Women's Provincial League. Sixteen teams competed in four groups, with the group winners progressing to the knockout rounds. Western Province won the competition, beating Gauteng in the final. Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Mpumalanga
Mpumalanga () is a province of South Africa. The name means "East", or literally "The Place Where the Sun Rises" in the Swazi, Xhosa, Ndebele and Zulu languages. Mpumalanga lies in eastern South Africa, bordering Eswatini and Mozambique. It constitutes 6.5% of South Africa's land area. The 2018–19 CSA Women's Provincial T20 Competition was the 7th edition of South Africa's provincial Twenty20 cricket tournament. It ran from October 2018 to February 2019, with 16 provincial teams taking part. North West won the tournament, claiming their first T20 title. Competition format The 16 teams were divided into three divisions: a top division named "Top 6", and two lower divisions, Pools A and B. It ran from October 2019 to March 2020, with 16 provincial teams taking part. The tournament was curtailed by the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic, with Western Province winning their sixth T20 title based on an adjusted points system. The captain of a cricket team, often referred to as the skipper, is the appointed leader, having several additional roles and responsibilities over and above those of the other players. Lizelle Lee
Lizelle Lee (born 2 April 1992) is a South African cricketer who played for the South Africa women's national cricket team from 2013 to 2022. She has played for Western Storm and Surrey Stars in the Women's Cricket Super League, as well as Melbourne Stars, Melbourne Renegades and Hobart Hurricanes in the Women's Big Bash League.
