Moçambola Players
Moçambola (or Campeonato Moçambicano de Futebol, Portuguese for Mozambican Football Championship) is the top division of Mozambican football. It is organized by the Liga Moçambicana de Futebol. History In 1976, shortly after the country's independence from Portugal, the competition's first season was contested. Only five clubs took part: Académica Maputo, AD Pemba, Desportivo de Maputo, Desportivo Tete, and Textáfrica. Until 2005, the competition was named Liga 2M. In 2005, the league was renamed to Moçambola. Competition format The league consists of 12 clubs, with each team competing against each other team twice, round-robin style, for a total of 24 matches per season. The bottom two clubs in the league table are relegated to the second division. It currently takes place between the months of March/April and October. Incomati Xinavane
The Komati River, also known as the Inkomati River or Incomati River (in Mozambique, from Portuguese Rio Incomati), is a river in South Africa, Eswatini and Mozambique. Originating in north-western Eswatini, it is joined by the Crocodile River in the Lebombo Mountains, enters far south-western Mozambique below the border town of Komatipoort, and enters the Indian Ocean around north-east of Maputo. Clube de Desportos da Costa do Sol, commonly known as Costa do Sol, is a Mozambican sports club based in Maputo. It is best known for the professional football team playing in Moçambola, the top division in Mozambican football. Founded in 15 of October 1955, Costa do Sol won its first title in 1979, the Mozambican league, and today is the club with the most titles won since national independence. They are nicknamed ''canarinhos'' (little canaries) for their equipment colour. Clube de Desportos do Maxaquene, usually known simply as Maxaquene, is a sports club based in Maputo, Mozambique. The club is nicknamed ''Maxaca''. Currently besides football (soccer) there are two indoor sports namely basketball ( CD Maxaquene Basketball) and handball. In such sports Maxaquene is only the club with the most national titles after independence. Maxaquene won its first post-independence title in football, the Taça de Moçambique, in 1978. Grupo Desportivo de Maputo, usually known as Desportivo de Maputo, Desportivo Maputo or by the acronym GDM, is an association football club from Maputo, Mozambique. Songo is a town in Tete Province in Mozambique. In 2007 it had a population of inhabitants. It was elevated to town status 6 July 1972. Near the town is Songo Airport.
