Nasir Salé
Nasir Salé is a Mozambican basketball coach. He is the current head of the Mozambique women's national basketball team, having been the head coach since the 2007 FIBA Africa Championship for Women. He was the coach of the team when they had their first ever qualification to the FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup in 2014 FIBA World Championship for Women, 2014. He also organized basketball training camps in Ivory Coast with the Ivory Coast men's national basketball team. In 2020, he became head coach of Ferroviário de Maputo (women's basketball), Clube Ferroviário de Maputo's women's basketball team. 2007 FIBA Africa Championship For Women
The 2007 FIBA Africa Championship for Women was the 18th FIBA Africa Championship for Women, played under the rules of FIBA, the world governing body for basketball, and the FIBA Africa thereof. The tournament was hosted by Senegal from September 20 to 30, with the games played at the Marius Ndiaye Stadium in Dakar and at the Stade Maniang Soumaré in Thiès. Basketball In Mozambique
Basketball is a team sport in which two teams, most commonly of five players each, opposing one another on a rectangular court, compete with the primary objective of shooting a basketball (approximately in diameter) through the defender's hoop (a basket in diameter mounted high to a backboard at each end of the court, while preventing the opposing team from shooting through their own hoop. A field goal is worth two points, unless made from behind the three-point line, when it is worth three. After a foul, timed play stops and the player fouled or designated to shoot a technical foul is given one, two or three one-point free throws. The team with the most points at the end of the game wins, but if regulation play expires with the score tied, an additional period of play (overtime) is mandated. Clube Ferroviário de Maputo, or simply Ferroviário, is a Mozambique multi sports club from Maputo especially known for its football operations but also for its basketball and roller hockey team. History The club was founded in 1924, as ''Clube Ferroviário de Lourenço Marques''. In 1976, the club was renamed to ''Clube Ferroviário de Maputo''. In 1982, the club won its first two titles, the Cup of Mozambique, and the Mozambican League. After winning the Moçambola in 2008 and in 2009, they finished in the fifth position in the 2011 edition of the league, concluded on November 6, 2011. Clube Ferroviário da Beira (in English: Railway Club Beira) is a basketball club from Beira, Mozambique. The team plays in the national Mozambican Basketball League and has won the national championship three times. The team played in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) in the 2022 season. History Founded in 1924, Ferroviário da Beira has played in the Mozambican Basketball League for most of its existence. From 2012, the team won three consecutive league championships. Ferroviário team played in the 2018–19 Africa Basketball League. In the fall of 2021, they played in the qualifiers of the Basketball Africa League (BAL) for the first time. 2023 Women's Afrobasket
The 2023 AfroBasket Women was the 28th edition of the tournament and held from 28 July to 5 August 2023 in Kigali, Rwanda. Nigeria won their fourth consecutive and sixth overall title after defeating Senegal in the final. Format The 12 teams were split into four groups of three teams. The first-placed team qualified to the quarterfinals while the other two teams played in a playoff round. A second-placed team faced off against a third-placed team and vice versa. The 2019 AfroBasket Women was held from 10 to 18 August 2019 in Dakar, Senegal. It was also the first step for the qualification for FIBA Africa for the women's basketball tournament at the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
