Mowinckelkysten
Mowinckelkysten is a coastal area at the southeastern side of the island of Bouvetøya. It is named after Johan Ludwig Mowinckel, the Norwegian Prime Minister at the time when Norwegian sovereignty over the island was established. It extends from Kapp Fie to Kapp Lollo. Bouvet Island
Bouvet Island ( ; ) is an island and dependency of Norway, and declared an uninhabited protected nature reserve. It is a subantarctic volcanic island, situated in the South Atlantic Ocean at the southern end of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge, and is the world's most extreme points of Earth#Remoteness, remote island. It is not part of the southern region covered by the Antarctic Treaty System. The island lies north of the Princess Astrid Coast of Queen Maud Land, Antarctica, east of the South Sandwich Islands, south of Gough Island, and south-southwest of the coast of South Africa. It has an area of , 93 percent of which is covered by a glacier. The centre of the island is the ice-filled crater of an inactive volcano. Some Skerry, skerries and one smaller island, Larsøya, lie along its coast. Cape Meteor
Cape Meteor (; Norwegian: Kapp Meteor) is a cape marked by steep cliffs in the coastal area of Mowinckelkysten, north of Svartstranda beach, and forms the eastern extremity of Bouvetøya island in the South Atlantic . The cape was roughly charted in 1898 by the German Valdivia expedition led by marine biologist Carl Chun, and was later named after the '' survey ship Meteor'', the ship in which the German Meteor expedition visited the island in 1926. The name appears on a British chart based upon a 1930 survey by personnel on the ''Discovery II ''Discovery II'', built in 1971, is the second of three Discovery sternwheel riverboats operated by the Riverboat Discovery company. ''Discovery II'' is still in use as a tour vessel on the Chena and Tanana rivers near Fairbanks, Alaska. Hist ...'', but this may reflect an earlier naming.
