Movies Depicting Colombia
This is a list of films depicting Colombia or specific aspects of it, such as its role in the illegal drug trade or its internal conflict. It is very common that those films (i.e. ''Collateral Damage'', ''Mr. & Ms. Smith'', ''XXX'') fail in the reproduction of the country: some of these mistakes include showing Bogotá or Medellín as sylvatic or coastal regions, using Mexican or Cuban actors (different from Colombians, especially in accent), and a general inaccuracy regarding the depiction of how the conflicts between government and drug-trading cartels work. A film also called a movie, motion picture, moving picture, picture, photoplay or (slang) flick is a work of visual art that simulates experiences and otherwise communicates ideas, stories, perceptions, feelings, beauty, or atmosphere through the use of moving images. ''Green Ice'' is a 1981 British adventure film starring Ryan O'Neal. It was also released under the name ''Operation Green Ice''. ''XXX'' (stylized as ''xXx'' and pronounced ''Triple X'') is a 2002 American action film directed by Rob Cohen, produced by Neal H. Moritz and written by Rich Wilkes. The first installment in the ''XXX'' film series, the film stars Vin Diesel as Xander Cage, a thrill-seeking extreme sports enthusiast, stuntman and rebellious athlete-turned reluctant spy for the National Security Agency. ''Superman III'' is a 1983 superhero film directed by Richard Lester from a screenplay by David Newman and Leslie Newman based on the DC Comics character Superman. ''Romancing the Stone'' is a 1984 action-adventure romantic comedy film directed by Robert Zemeckis, written by Diane Thomas and produced by Michael Douglas, who also starred in the film. The film co-stars Kathleen Turner and Danny DeVito. The film follows a romance novelist who must venture beyond her New York City comfort zone to Colombia in order to save her sister from criminals who are holding her for ransom as they search for a priceless treasure. ''Proof of Life'' is a 2000 American action thriller film directed and produced by Taylor Hackford. The title refers to a phrase commonly used to indicate proof that a kidnap victim is still alive.
