Jon Stoessl
Alexander Jon Stoessl is a Canadian neurologist and Parkinson's disease researcher. He is the director of the Pacific Parkinson's Research Centre and Parkinson's Foundation Centre of Excellence at the University of British Columbia (UBC). He is also the head of the division of neurology at this university. He is currently the President of thWorld Parkinson Coalition. Early life and education Stoessl was born in London, England. In 1960, when Stoessl was a child, he and his family moved from England to London, Ontario, after his father was offered a job in Canada. He received his medical degree from the University of Western Ontario in 1979, after which he completed an internship at McGill University and a residency in neurology at the University of Western Ontario, where he studied alongside Alastair Buchan. Scopus is Elsevier's abstract and citation database launched in 2004. Scopus covers nearly 36,377 titles (22,794 active titles and 13,583 inactive titles) from approximately 11,678 publishers, of which 34,346 are peer-reviewed journals in top-level subject fields: life sciences, social sciences, physical sciences and health sciences. It covers three types of sources: book series, journals, and trade journals. The Science Citation Index Expanded – previously entitled Science Citation Index – is a citation index originally produced by the Institute for Scientific Information (ISI) and created by Eugene Garfield. It was officially launched in 1964 and is now owned by Clarivate (previously the Intellectual Property and Science business of Thomson Reuters). The indexing database covers more than 9,200 notable and significant journals, across 178 disciplines, from 1900 to the present. PubMed is a free search engine accessing primarily the MEDLINE database of references and abstracts on life sciences and biomedical topics.
