Mouseterpiece Theater
''Mouseterpiece Theater'' is an American television show that ran on The Disney Channel that premiered on the channel's launch date on April 18, 1983, and continued with reruns into the 1990s. The show is a spoof of the PBS show ''Masterpiece Theatre'', presenting Disney animated shorts instead of showing dramatic works. Like ''Masterpiece Theatre'', it used a section of Jean-Joseph Mouret's Suite of Symphonies for brass, strings and timpani No. 1 as its theme music, but the Disney show used the third movement rather than the first. George Plimpton hosted and gave commentary and background information before and after each cartoon. Each show tended to have a theme; Goofy's emergence as the staid everyman character for example. It usually ran later in the evenings.Various issues of ''The Disney Channel Magazine'', 1983 to 1991 See also * ''Good Morning, Mickey!'', another Disney Channel show featuring Disney shorts * List of programs broadcast by Disney Channel * "Monsterpiece Theat ...

Monsterpiece Theater
''Monsterpiece Theater'' is a recurring segment on the popular children's television series ''Sesame Street'', a parody of ''Masterpiece Theatre''. Format While using Muppet characters to act out educational principles, primarily Grover and other Muppet monsters, ''Monsterpiece Theater'' is also a parody of the similarly acclaimed PBS show ''Masterpiece Theatre'', now known simply as ''Masterpiece''. The theme song is also a modified version of ''Fanfare-Rondeau'', the ''Masterpiece'' theme song, only with trumpets and a much more upbeat tempo. ''Monsterpiece Theater'' is hosted by Alistair Cookie, a play on the journalist and television personality Alistair Cooke, portrayed by Cookie Monster. He wears a smoking jacket and holds a pipe which he usually ends up eating. The segments are loosely based on classic literature, plays, films, and TV shows. Goofy
Goofy is a cartoon character created by The Walt Disney Company. He is a tall, Anthropomorphism, anthropomorphic dog who typically wears a turtle neck and vest, with pants, shoes, white gloves, and a tall hat originally designed as a rumpled fedora. Goofy is a close friend of Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck, and Max Goof's father. He is normally characterized as hopelessly Accident-proneness, clumsy and Stupidity, dim-witted, yet this interpretation is not always definitive; occasionally, Goofy is shown as intuitive and clever, albeit in his own unique, eccentric way. Goofy debuted in animated cartoons, starting in 1932 with ''Mickey's Revue'' as Dippy Dawg, who is older than Goofy would come to be. Later the same year, he was re-imagined as a younger character, now called Goofy, in the short ''The Whoopee Party''. During the 1930s, he was used extensively as part of a comedy trio with Mickey Mouse, Mickey and Donald. Starting in 1939, Goofy was given his own series of shorts that ...

Jean-Joseph Mouret
Jean-Joseph Mouret (11 April 1682 in Avignon – 22 December 1738 in Charenton-le-Pont) was a French composer whose dramatic works made him one of the leading exponents of Baroque music in his country. Even though most of his works are rarely performed, Mouret's name survives today thanks to the popularity of the Fanfare-Rondeau from his first ''Suite de symphonies'', which has been adopted as the signature tune of the PBS program ''Masterpiece'' and is a popular musical choice in many modern weddings. Life He was the son of Jean Bertrand Mouret, a silk merchant, who gave him a good education and, noting his early gifts for music, favored this choice. He sang with talent, began to compose with success and, around the age of twenty-five, settled in Paris. Talented and endowed with a pleasant character, he was not long in making himself known there and, in 1708, was introduced to Anne, Duchess of Maine, whose salon at Sceaux was a center of courtly society in the declining years ...
